5 guys with guitars, bass, drums and a synthesizer write songs about love, hope, dreams, anticipation, loss, anger, being drunk, being sober, feeling lost etc. The singer loves football and works in a bar, but is a vulnerable genius in his own style. The drummer is actually the best guitar player in the band, but the others aren´t bad either.
The Frankfurt/Germany based five-piece COLOURFUL GREY was founded in 2001, and they have been well known for their energetic live shows even beyond the German borders. After selling out two EPs, they released their debut album Its so o.k. via Triple Eggs Records in 2003, followed up by several tours in Germany and another one, which lead them to the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, where the staff of Lockjaw Records visited one of their shows and signed them right away. With the support of this experienced label they will now be releasing their second album worldwide in October 2005.
The sound of COLOURFUL GREY can be classified as melancholic and up-tempo indie punk rock, whereas influences from the Post-Punk/Wave era can be heard as well as from the American College-/Emo wave of the 90s. Philipp Lemhöfers conspicuous voice underlines the music and the poetic and humorous lyrics about love, desperation and overcoming perfectly.
COLOURFUL GREY write wonderful melodies, which you cant get out of your head (to relate to Kylie here), and theyll animate you to sing along, only to open out into a wild inferno right afterwards. Their sound is exciting and still danceable. And always exhilarating.
