columns is a death metal/grind band from north carolina. it's drums, a guitar, a bass, and a guy going nuts with a microphone creating fast, aggressive, honest music.
columns was formed in 2004 by jason skipper, jake troth, and jake wade. actually, chris thomas (guitarist for minority party) was in the band for a short while too, but then left for school. jason on drums, jake troth on guitar, and jake wade on bass. none of us wanted to (or could) 'sing,' so we auditioned a few singers, but none of them worked out. we were tired of not playing shows due to not having a singer, so we just decided to play instrumentally until we found a vocalist, which we did for our first several shows. that was cool and everything, but we wanted a singer. knowing that the band glass casket wasn't doing too much, we thought we'd ask their singer, adam cody, to come jam with us. and he did. and not too long after that, we played our first show with him/a vocalist. oddly enough, jake troth then joined glass casket in 2005. so that's a quick, short explanation of how columns was formed.
jake troth left the band in july of '07 to go off to school. john stone joined the band, replacing jake troth on guitar, in october of '07.
