|
| Bio | Originally from Thunder Bay, Mike Takacs has been performing stand-up comedy in Toronto at various clubs for the past four years while balancing his teaching career. He’s regularly performing at numerous venues throughout Southwestern Ontario.
Mike’s act has had a good degree of success; landing him in the finals for the 2004 "funniest person with a day job contest" at the Laugh Resort, and the “stand-up, sit-down, fight, fight, fight” open competition during the summer of 2004. In late March 2007, Mike partook in the Just For Laughs Homegrown Competition which aired on XM Satellite Radio.
The young comedian is also part of the illustrious Jokers Hockey Club, of the Good Times Hockey League and Exclaim Cup Series, where he participated on and off the ice as part of the full-time roster. Mike has performed and skated with comedic talents such as, Sean Cullen, Steve Levine and Jay Malone, along with famous musicians Tyler Stewart and Orin Isaacs to help out several Toronto area charities. Two years ago, the club laced up their skates and sharpened their jokes for the Canadian Comedy Awards, raising money for the Sunshine Dreams for Kids in London.

About me:
When I'm not teaching at my elementary school I perform stand-up comedy. I play hockey for a celebrity team called the Jokers that raises money for various charities in Southern Ontario. Comedy is a passion and I try to do as many shows in between my teaching career, my family and the occasional bounty hunt. If you have flown Air Canada recently, then you may think my face is familiar. I'm on the in-flight safety video which is both lame and nifty at the same time. One day, when I fly via Air Canada, I will don the exact same outfit I wore for the video-shoot and just stare at the passenger beside me. Until then, my ultimate goal is to tour and/or delevop a program to teach stand-up/sketch at a high school level. That and tame a wolverine. That would be awesome.

Other people named Mike Takacs. Because I'd like to meet the other Mike Takacs' of the world and find out more about these fine gents that share my name. I'd even consider traveling somewhere (within a reasonable distance) to meet up with another Mike Takacs. We could get to know each other over a coffee or a short get-together and when the time is right...i'd murder him because I have a feeling I'd level up to a better version of Mike Takacs. I should be at level 5 by now.
