The camp sounds like hood man!! We speak for the streets yall and its not on no tough shit!! We was born and raised in the hood so its only right that we talk about the things we been around are whole life!!!
Hailing from Dolton, a South Suburb of Chicago, L.P."Da Assassin" is epitome of what true perseverance would be. Through hard work and determination he has managed to get better by the day from every angle rapping, and owning his own company. His story is one of greatness.
Fleeing from gangbanging and drug dealing life that he was becoming actively a part of as a teen, L.P. went off to Bradley University where his quest for musical stardom began. Known by many in high school as an "ok" freestyler, it wasnt until L.P. went off to college and surronded himself with people who shared his love for music and rhyming, that he began to take his musical career seriously. In 2001 after the birth of his son, L.P. realized that now was the time to take his career to the next level. Linking up with Sever Garcia at a local studio,L.P. created his own distinct style and even began dabbling in production. Which lead to the smash hit "Land of the Chi". The streets embraced the joint and thats where the name "Da Assassin" came from, created off the premise that "he slaughter’s beats".
LP’s buzz continued to grow after appearing on CanTV in the chicagoland area. His appearance on the show was so popular for the network that he was asked back to do a show called "A timeout with LP". Yet local stardom was not enough for L.P. He knew that the only way to achieve the success that he desired he would have to become his own vehicle for success so in 2004,LP started his own label, Come Up Records & Entertainment what he calls "The C.U.R.E. for the Industry". Since focusing on the label LP has recruited lifelong friends GreatDame, and 360 aka Bad Newz. With his team in tow, 2005 was set to be a big year for the "Da C.U.R.E. family". Recognition for the C.U.R.E. family began to grow with performances all across the city from What’s Up,The Note,The Wire,Mr. Rickys, to name a few. Buzz continued to grow from LP hosting the Do or Die uncut video for Wicket Entertainment. A pivotal trip to New York help LP hookup with independent labels such as Ghetto-Las Entertainment and Hoodlum Entertainment. He went on to record songs and perform as an opening act for a host of their shows throughout the cities undergroung scene. Fastforward to 2006, with no major label approaching,L.P. took Come Up’s show on the road traveling the Midwest and East Coast performing in such places as NY,Chicago,Tennessee and Atlanta, Able to successfully garner attention and respect for The C.U.R.E. family,LP’s goal was accomplished and his ventures led to other business ventures. While in New York, he can across a producer B-Fam of BeatFam productions. The up an coming producer recognized the potential of LP and produced the club banger "Thats Right" featuring GreatDame which turned into a hood classic!
The C.U.R.E. Family currently works with Move Studios, founded by DX and Meesak of Trackburners music. This partnership has continued to flourish and has lead to some of the labels hottest work to the date. L.P. has recently garnered attention with the growing popularity of "Spit Yo Game" a remix of the original Notorious BIG song. It was debuted by WGCI’s popular host DJ. DJ Lil John, during his Hoodmix Saturday nights. Keeping him in rotation has proved to be a blessing for LP. The C.U.R.E. family had to come together when their leader LP was in and out the hospital after he had to give his father a kidney. The major surgery was just a minor setback in the career of this young star. You can read more on LP and the surgery in his upandcoming article in "The Connex List" magazine known as the hiphop yellow pages brought to you by the famous Wondertwinz. Come Up Records is set to release "The C.U.R.E. Vol.. 1" one of the most highly anticipated mixtapes set to be released this year in Chicago!!!!! It features the whole Come Up family and chi-town’s own Anyi, Tommy Bunns aka Philmore Slim and Houston’s finest Willo Tha Wizz. The mixtape is now being hosted by "DJ SL Jamz" of Def Jam/Upstart Entertainment. Chicago’s got next and so does L.P."Da Assassin".
