Comfort in Sound NI has a team made up of a bunch of guys who are really passionate about local music! The team is actually formed by members of a local band - Article for, and has a few other part-time helpers. Each team member has their own individual skills to offer the project and local music. All our staff are students who are working towards a career in the music industry!
Comfort in Sound isn't just about our great local music scene, it's about getting the community involved in our music scene by using everyones individual talents! We are always on the look out for volunteers to join our team!
Our staff at the moment include -
Alan Wall, a sound wizz kid with a passion for music technology. Alan does sound at all our shows.
Steven Woods, the man with the plan, Steven has lots of great ideas and plenty of organisation skills to back them up.
Skip McKibben, Skip is the founder of Comfort in Sound and has a real passion for local music. Skip organises all the events and is the voice for Comfort in Sound.
Maybe music isn't dead. Maybe we just forgot what it sounded like... Comfort in Sound is a new music night being put on in The Bunker and The Pavillion, Belfast, bringing alternative, metal, and all sorts of other music. We will give a chance to unsigned bands from all over the country to show their music to friends, peers and other musicians, as well as giving signed bands another show to put on their agenda. Comfort in Sound is excited to announce it will be putting on regular shows at a new venue in Belfast, The Bunker.
Comfort in Sound NI have a real passion for local music. Our services are provided for free because we take our profits from the doors and not the band.
We want to work with as many local acts as physically possible to try and get their music out there into the local community and perhaps beyond.
With monthly venues in the heart of the city of Belfast, Comfort in Sound NI give local unsigned acts the opportunity to be heard and noticed, and give signed acts another gig to add to their list!
If you're in a band and are looking for gig opportunities, all you have to do is message us and we will do all we can to put you on a stage and fill the room with people!!!

CURRENTLY RECRUITING NEW VOLUNTEERS!!!!! Comfort in Sound has had an excellent start, better than we could have hoped. We all feel its about time we stepped it up a notch! We are curently on the look out for new volunteers, if you have a talent or just have a passion for local music, get in touch! We would like volunteers to do everything from poster design to handing out flyers. So come on...do something for local music!!
Firstly, thanks for having us a friend! We really do appreciate it, it's a hard slog being an original band at the moment.
Secondly, do you, or anyone you know, like to play bass? And do you, or this person who you know who plays bass want to play bass in a gigging rock band?
The Hubris are recruiting. Mark is hanging up his plucking pinkies at the end of the year and we need to find someone who can do what he can do.
We're after a bassist who likes his/her rock music. We've been compared to loads of punk bands, old and modern. John from Bruised Fruit described our recent demo thusly: "This is class - really catchy. It's like the Jam meet Green Day meet The Clash and it's a three way explosion of awesome." (Thanks John - hope you don't mind us quoting that to death!)
What we're after is someone who's, well, who's good at playing bass really. Have good attitude, be willing to practise up to twice a week, and tear up every gig we get our mitts on. Ideally the ability to backing sing would be good. Songwriting optional.
We've played quite a few gigs since we started gigging in July, and we have more gigs booked into the future. As soon as we get someone on board we have the opportunity of a load more very soon. We were played on Feile FM a couple of weeks ago, listeners texted in and asked for an encore.
Loads of scope for you to take a songwriting role if you fancy, plus we're a very easygoing bunch of people who have a good laugh as well as work hard.
If you like rock music and you want to be in a real rock band then contact me.
With about two weeks to go before the launch date.. we thought it was about time to start plastering you lot with posters! Hope to see you down there.
PS: "Am I Now Going To Be Less Sensitive?" & "There's Only One Thing Worse Than Dragons" are featured on our myspace profile, if you'd like to have a listen to what we'll be releasing on the 16th!
