Comhlámh (which means "Link Hands" or "Solidarity") has activist groups and initiatives made up of volunteers from the public in the areas of Trade Justice, Anti-Racism, Focus magazine and Options and Issues in Development and we run regular courses and training workshops for the public and development workers alike.
Two of our key activity areas include our range of support services for Returned Development Workers (RDWs) and our Options in Volunteering Overseas initiative, which has its own dedicated website (http://www.volunteeringoptions.org).

Comhlámh presents ‘Guyana: A Rough Deal’, a film that explores the difficulties resulting from international trade agreements. The film illustrates the need for Trade Justice and the continuing importance of campaigning on this issue. The documentary is an initiative of the Comhlamh Action Network in Cork and was produced with funding assistance from the EU. Comhlámh's First Wednesday Debates at Bewley's Cafe Theatre, Dublin
Comhlámh's ‘First Wednesday Debates' are a series of debates on the first Wednesday of each month (October to April) from 6.15-7.45pm at Bewley's Café Theatre, Grafton Street, Dublin.
They were initiated in October 2005 to mark our 30th anniversary year and we're delighted to say they've been thriving ever since.
The debates/forums are an opportunity for the public to engage and discuss development issues and we hope that each discussion is fruitful to everyone attending. We ask the audience to share and discuss their ideas freely bearing in mind that there are areas in which we may not always agree with each other. Therefore, we encourage an environment of respect towards the diversity of opinions.
The format: each of the two speakers talks for approximately 15-20 minutes, moderated by the chairperson, and the discussion then opens out to involve the audience with a question and answer/discussion session. Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis to a maximum capacity of 50 people. Admission is free. Watch the clip to get a flavour of the debates...
