About me:

.... Check out my blog
I've been involved in the comic book industry for over (dear lord, help me) 15 years now, scary as that may sound. I've been a reader and a fan since the age of 5, and a comic book retailer since age 21. If you are the convention going type, you may see me at the Moonstone booth pimping our wares. If you haven't heard of Moonstone, shame on you! Check out our website: www.moonstonebooks.com. We publish all kinds of groovy comics/graphic novels/prose anthologies for the following characters: the Phantom, Kolchak the Nighstalker, Buckaroo Banzai, Sherlock Holmes, plus all kinds of western, noir, and horror titles too. We publish a little something for everyone! And for those of you that are interested, I am also on ComicSpace: http://www.comicspace.com/moonstone_lori
..

Who I'd like to meet:

Interests

  • General

..For the moment: Victorian and Platinum Age comics, Pez dispensers, The Golden Age of Children's Book Illustration, Hello Kitty, Arthurian myths and legends, and my two crazy kitties. I also enjoy watching entertaining films, quality television, and my all time two favorite passtimes: reading books and comics of all types. More useless facts about me: I am passionate about art, some of my favorites inlcude JW Waterhouse, Gustave Dore, Julia Margaret Cameron, Gustave Klimt, Alfons Mucha, and Ivan Albright. Contemporary artists whose work I worship from afar: Alan Lee, Brain Froud, Jon J Muth, Dave McKean, Kent Williams, George Pratt, William Kaluta, Barry Windsor Smith, Charles Vess, and Jeffrey Jones.
  • Music

..The Clash, The Smiths, The Damned, The Buzzcocks, The Libertines, Joy Division, Interpol, Louis XIV, The Decemberists, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, TRex, Roxy Music, The Pixies, Belle and Sebastian, Big Star, Nick Cave, Clinic, Morrissey, The Cure, The Jam, Echo and the Bunnymen, PJ Harvey, Muse, Pulp, Von Bondies, Sonic Youth, Iggy Pop, The Strokes, Siouxsie and the Banshees, well you get the idea...
  • Movies

..Donnie Darko, Serenity, Pi, Requiem for a Dream, Batman Begins, all 3 Lord of the Rings films, Rushmore, Spider-man 2, X-Men 2, Excalibur, Ed Wood, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and too many more to list!
  • Television

..Angel, Buffy, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica (new series), Coupling, MI-5, Kolchak the Nighstalker, Lost, Rescue Me, Deadwood, and (no laughing) Masterpiece Theatre.
  • Books

..Anything by A.S. Byatt, anything by the Bronte sisters, anything by Jane Austen, anything by Virginia Woolfe, every word written by Dorothy Parker, every depressing yet somehow uplifting poem by Sylvia Plath, every syllable put to paper by Emily Dickinson, The Yellow Wallpaper, The Awakening, The Mists of Avalon, and the list can go on and on for pages... Favorite comic book writers: Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman (back when he didn't regurgitate the same crap over and over), Warren Ellis, Peter Milligan (before he started working for Marvel, with the exception of X-Force/X-Statix), Ed Brubaker, Brian K. Vaughn, Brad Meltzer, Justin Gray, and way many more people than I feel like typing out...
  • Heroes

..Mother Theresa (what's not to admire?), Hilary Clinton (say what you will about her, she's come a long way), Dorothy Parker (that woman has to be one of the most amazing women ever), Emily Dickinson (so what if she never left her house, few other poets have come close to her genius)and single mothers everywhere (have to give credit where credit is due)!
