About me:
Comic Geek Speak is one of the original all-talk ensemble comics podcasts. It's three to five episodes a week of current comics talk, comic book history, interviews, reviews and a general look at the industry. Produced regularly since March of 2005, Comic Geek Speak has been the Official Comics Podcast for New York Comic Con '06 as well as Pittsburgh Comicon '06-'08. Listen in and experience all the joys of a Wednesday afternoon at the comic shop from the comfort of your own headphones.
CGS has one of the finest Forum communities on the net that includes listeners, creators, other podcasters and more. Several listeners have gone on to create their own podcast either influenced or inspired by CGS including Raging Bullets, Popcult Online, Birds of Geek, Around Comics, Geek Syndicate, Kryptographik, the Amazing Spider-Cast, the Uncanny X-Cast, Born in the 8ts, Half Hour Wasted, Comic Timing, Geeks Unite, Alternate Reality and others. Both Comic Book Data Base and Comic Sketch Gallery were spawned from CGS.
Along with the main comics podcast, CGS has started two new shows. Exploring Bede is a look at Bande Dessinée. This podcast will cover Franco-Belgian comics as well as many other European offerings. The second podcast is World of Toys. This show, spun directly from a former CGS segment, will cover everything toys and toy-related from Super-Heroes to Star Wars, from Muppets to Megos. Both will have their own website soon with yet another new show coming soon. The CGS network continues to grow.
Our newest venture, the Comics Now Magazine has landed into comic shops across the country. The first issue hit stores on Wed. January 23! Issue 2 is out and issue 3 will be out in June. Exploring current comics with an indepth-look at how they relate to the past, Comics Now! Magazine is a quarterly mag by comic fans, for comic fans.
CGS is proud to be part of this ever growing community and will give the love back by holding the first ever CGS SuperShow in 2008. The two-day event, presented by AAM Markosia and featuring 50 guests and special guest David Petersen of Mouse Guard, will be held in Reading, Pa. on September 6 & 7.
