Desperate for inspiration, a struggling young writer dredges up
memories of an ex-girlfriend and finds his muse in an unlikely place
in Joshua Kemble's Xeric Award-winning comic book "Numb."
Seymour is an aspiring novelist at a loss for words until old memories
of his first love come flooding back to him. Convinced these past
experiences will provide him the fuel he needs for a wildly successful
first work, he spends months typing away at his computer. When he
ventures of out his apartment for a coffee break, however, he gets the
shock of his life and discovers that there is more to writing than
finding the perfect muse.
A compelling, original and boldly visual story about meeting new love,
exchanging books and CDs, making love, deciding to date, moving in,
depression, drugs, lack of confidence, chatting, car rides, moving
out, angry calls, depression, alcoholism, nervous breakdowns and
eventual inspiration, "Numb" is reminiscent of the work of such
distinctive artists as Daniel Clowes, Adrian Tomine and Chris Ware.

About me:
About the author:
Joshua Kemble is a freelance illustrator and a 2006 Xeric grant
recipient. He is at work on his graphic novel, which will be published
by NBM publishing, and is completing a masters degree in illustration
at California State University, Long Beach. An unabashed comic book
geek, he was born in Tarzana, California, grew up in the Antelope
Valley, and now resides in downtown Long Beach with his fiancée, Mai,
and his pug, Holden.
