A nostalgic yet forward-looking producer, Comma reflects the era he grew up in, when hovercrafts and holograms were the future. Hearing the synthesizer anthem "Axel F" for the first time as a child would influence his adult life in ways he never dreamed. Growing up in the gloom of Seattle, Comma moved to the Bay Area in 1999, where the potent drum'n'bass scene sparked an obsession with the cutting edge sounds of electronic music. His friend at the time, Boreta of The Glitch Mob, taught him how to DJ and produce, and the two ended up forming the group Slidecamp in 2005. Their debut album, due in 2010 on seminal electronic label n5MD, showcases expansive melodies, intelligent, complex beats, and an obsessive attention to detail that Comma has become known for in his solo work. On his debut EP for Mr. Projectile's Semisexual label, "Carry The Fire", Comma emerges in an evolving strain of dubstep influenced by UK garage and experimental beats. The tracks are looming and haunted, drawing comparisons to Vangelis and Burial at times. Performing live with custom hardware processing, he always crosses boundaries with new material. His DJ sets are an explosive improvisation of experimental beats, scorching bass music, and futuristic body moving tunes spliced together through an array of hands-on controllers. Comma doesn't stop there with his contributions to our sonic world: he also professionally designs sound banks for synth manufacturers, and licenses music to film and TV.
