My name is Vanessa Filkins, and I am a professional photographer located in Austin, Texas. My goal is to take photos of you that show who you are in that moment. I believe in photography as art and function. I want people to laugh and see themselves in my photos. In a more esoteric sense, I love the secrets visual images can contain and reveal. I often wonder what my work would be like if I was blind, and I try to photograph with that in mind - what is there that I don't see? What am I seeing that I don't know I'm seeing?
