Glen Russell sings from his heart and anyone that is near by is pulled into the energy of his performance. He was awarded a scholarship for music performance in 1980. Music for Glen is a very personal thing. The current expression of which, since 1998 has been and continues to be, CG Blues.
Brian Eddie has his roots in the greats, from Mike Bloomfield to Ronnie Earl, from Danny Gatton to Robben Ford. You can hear them all when he plays, as well as his own voice that comes through his music. He has the feel in his hands and the tone to the bone.
Tom Marks adds touches of jazz and blues in each and every tune, to give CGB tons of flavor and enough color to fill any artists pallet. Tom will truly take you for a ride and make you forget all your troubles when he lays into those keys to please and tease.
Timothy Kinsey, is the Road warrior. He has managed to play for fifteen years without need of otherwise gainful employment here in the south western United States. A veteran of many bands, and many miles, He can give a song whatever it needs. Tim is a solid player. And in a deal for the redemption of his veryl soul, he has found CG, Blues.
Guy Mazzo on Drums is now laying down the groove for Cg,Blues.
With many years experience Guy adds the driving force that helps CGB bring it all on home for it's fans here at home and all over the world.
Thank YOU for embracing Common Ground Blues.
A scant few would be: Ronnie Earl, Duke Robbilard, Tom Waits, Mike bloomfield, Robben Ford, Monk, Coltraine, all the Jazz and Blues greats, both old and new, the famous and the infamous, the large names and all the great but lesser known performers and bands, the saints the siners, the artists the whores.. and by all god's children from the modest to the mighty..
Still, mostly we have been and are still to this day, being influenced by all of the wonderful musicians and freinds that continue to touch our lives. Spirits from the past, the present, and those in future store. I thank you. And much love from Cg,Blues.
Here is a qick phonecam clip, caught by a friend at a nice supper club in Mesa Az. back in 2006, Ok it's a little grainy.. but it does show people having a good time, and gives a little look see at how we move and groove..
The Common Ground Blues band pulls inspiration from "The Old Masters to the New Monsters" of electric blues music. Cg,Blues stands out from the crowd with compelling vocals, and some very toneful guitar work. Add in a tight rhythm section and then lift it again with both piano and organ for all the right flavors...
Merry Christmas! I'm excited for you. And of course hoping for the best...my Christmas wonderful...until about 3 this morning, when I heard my daughter, violently ill, almost collapsed in the bathroom. An hour later, my grandson... It would appear we've been hit by a flu bug! Both of them are feeling somewhat better, but now between exhaustion, and dread, I'm reeling, and just know my 'beating' is coming...sigh... But prior to all that, what a great Christmas it's been. The only thing I wanted was my children, and grandson around the table, with our trademark laughter, and so everything else was just icing... The only thing I could have wanted more of was music. I didn't get one Blues cd this year, though enjoyed the new John Mayer, and his version of Crossroads that was on it. I've been invited to sing with a friend's band tonight. (MOTORPSYCHIC) But now I'm afraid to leave the close proximity of my own personal powder room! Lol I hate to back out, the lead guitarist, Jimmy Williams is an old friend, and well respected, and accomplished guitarist. I'll never forget the first time I ever sang for him in his old band... I thought surely I'd died and gone to Blues heaven... Hopefully I can pull it together and make it to the gig tonight. I hope Santa was good to you my friend, you're truly one of my most cherished. Talk to me again soon! Big hugs, Denise
Hello my dear Bluesman. Well Christmas is almost here. Seems it comes and goes so fast now...sometimes I wish they'd just slow it down a little, play way more music, and just allow up to breathe in some holiday 'spirit'...things here are good. For the most part, but Elifino has been on involuntary hiatus for weeks now, and honestly it's a little sad...but the bassist for the came said they're trying to get back in with the Natchel Blues Network, which is big here, to reconnect and network for gigs, and open opportunities, which is a really good thing...otherwise, I'm doing the karaoke trail, and open Mics to keep the pipes well greased...exciting this week, I met a singer musician, newly moved here...he heard me sing, asked me to do a few duets with him, and... Musical MAGIC. My God this man can sing and play, and when we sing together, people just stop, stare, and listen. I swear Glen, the chemistry made me weak with awe... No...no romance, just sweet-a_s music! :) we have about 10 songs thus far we can do at a moment's notice...thinking of getting a set together for some open mics, and see how it's received. Though if this past week is any indication... We'd have it made... It remains to be seen just how serious if is, and if our schedules can work...he works as a contractor for the Navy and NASA.... We'll see huh? :) So happy to know you've got another good prospect...got my toes crossed for ya. (my fingers are still twisted from last time! Lol) Hon, I really hope all works out, and that you and all the guys have a wonderful Christmas (Holiday?) season, and a red, hot, and BLUES New Year! Love you bunches my friend. Hugs, and a sweet kiss on the cheek, Denise (still, and ALWAYS, your biggest fan!) :)
Hellooo in therrre! :) just stopping by to show you some love!... Hope all is well, and you're enjoying the holidays thus far. Big sweet hugs my friend! D
HAPPY THANKSGIVING GLEN! ...and to ALL of my friends in CG BLUES! May God's blessings shine upon you, and fill your Thanksgiving with love and joy! Love to all, Denise
Hello sweet thang! Ah! Sorry about the cornflake! You know what they say...cornflakes just can't stand up in hot soup! Lol :) the trio thing sounds cool. Do you enjoy that? I know it would be nice to gave everything just the ideal way, but you know, the smaller sets mean more individual money...and, perhaps more gigs? Due to being more financially doable for the club? Would kinda give you a change for a bit. I forget if you told me, why did the piano man leave?? ... I'm doing well, just really tired. Getting settled in our new place has been nice, but exhausting... Then this part week, we had a record breaking, NorEaster storm, of 'historic proportions', producing almost hurricane force winds... We had some water damage from the major 3 days of rain...came thru the interior walls in 4 rooms of our townhome. Now we have 4 heavy duty, industrial vortex blowers going since last saturday...damage re assessed today, and the drying hasn't come along as they hoped... Now there's mold coming thru in one of the interior walls.... What a pain in the gut!... But just when I'm ready to cry from the frustration, I think of all those poor people who've been thru so much worse. Ie: New Orleans! So... I'm just hanging in these and being thankful..... Still, and always singing. With Elifino every friday night at the Blue Maxx, though hot a call from our bass player, John... Very unexpectedly, the Blues Maxx was sold, and as of today, everything had to be out by noon! So the guys were there to get out all equipment that was normally left in house... John didn't call me back tonight to tell me what the verdict was on the bands remaining gigs, which were thru New Years... So, we'll just gave to wait and see...regardless, we'll get other gigs! In a sense, I kind of think it's almost a good thing to get the guys out of their comfort zone... They're so good, but rarely stretch their legs...this may force it. :) I'll pray for CG Blues, and you can pray for Elifino! :) gave to shut these eyes... Big love my sweet, talented friend... Big kiss on the forehead...keep your spirits up my dear...long as you hot those pipes...'they will come'. :) mwahh! Bluesy

My dear, sweet Bluesman...Aahhhh!! I'm so darn proud of you guys anyway!!...one thing you should know, seriously now, those of us who love you as I do...you guys were the winners before you ever stepped into the place!... There's next year for the finals, and nationals...and you can bet one thing my friend, they gonna be sweatin it next year the same way they were sweatin it last night! Cause ...a little like child birth...you may be a little intrepid before you know what it is you're fearing...but you're scared into your pants (if ya know what I mean!) when you've already been thru the childbirth once! ... Be proud, enjoy the love your fans have shown, and keep givin them what brings that love on. Between you and I, and anyone who's ever done these competitions... It can go either way...to be honest babe...I almost think it's the qualifying that's the real task...and you guys should be so proud... I know I am!! Love ya bigtime! DENISE *still and always your biggest fan! :)
