About me: CommonLine, The E-Journal also known as "Common Line" and "The CommonLine Project," was founded early in 2007. An electronic-guerrilla quarterly, CommonLine is dedicated to publishing poetry, interview and review. CommonLine will publish it's 102nd issue in the fall of 2009. CommonLine has operated under various slogans since its inception including "Poetry for People who Don't Like "Poetry,"' "Winning the Fight Against Whatever" and "I Know Time Heals Wounds, But This One's Gonna Need Stitches."
The Journal has published poetry by Pulitzer Prize winning poets, as well as emerging talents and previously unpublished authors. Such writers include Stephen Dunn, Lou Lipsitz, Christopher Locke, Richard J. Martin, Lyn Lifshin, Anis Mojgani, Arlene Ang, Ellen Bass, Mike Dell’Aquila, David Labounty, D.B. Cox, Dennis Paul Wilken, Justin Hyde, Rob Plath, Robert Louis Henry, and Tony O'Neill, among countless of others. Likewise, CommonLine has featured interviews with a variety of artists including National Poetry Slam Champion Anis Mojgani, hip-hop artist Immortal Technique, cult author Tony O'Neill, and Def Poetry Jam's George Watsky. Currently, CommonLine is published out of Seattle, New York City, and Tulsa. The Editor of CommonLine is Ananda Osel.
History +
In February of 2007 CommonLine released its first issue under the title "The CommonLine Project." For the first several months the magazine published new content weekly. Late in 2007 CommonLine began a monthly publication schedule. During this time CommonLine began to include interviews and reviews as major parts of individual issues. In September of 2008 the magazine moved to a quarterly publication schedule in an effort to increase the quality of its contents and showcase the work of its contributors in a brighter and longer-lasting light.
CommonLine's original mission was to promote blue collar verse; that is, poetry written by or about, and for, the common reader, hence the name the magazine. Since, the journal has expanded it's content to include diverse types of writing, although, it still places significant emphasis on the experience of the working-class person.
Approximately 40% of all the work CommonLine publishes is personally solicted. The remaining 60% of the magazine's content comes from unsolicited submissions and editor contributions.
CommonLine is published in Georgia font and utilizes Google's Blogger platform.
