Isolation Day, the latest musical statement from Brooklyn's own Common Place was born out of observation. In the 8 years since our shared tragedy we've watched our city change. At First it was a change towards brotherhood and community but that didn't last. What has come to the forefront is a society of distraction. Portable devices rule the day. Internet, Ipods, cell phones,DVRs PDAs, PSPs all vying for our attention, keeping us isolated
What happened to eye contact?
If this could happen to us in just 8 short years what does the future hold? Could this eventually happen in one day?
We are exploring what happens when we choose to forget, when we accept what we've been given at face value, when we forget that the future IS change and the future is now. This is a record for all of us, from our city, our country and our world. We have to find the strength to be ourselves, to share our energy with each other. Most of all, we have to care again.
