We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
While we recognize that the heart of Common Table is a dynamic and living thing, and therefore cannot be reduced to words on a page, these are some of the characteristics that describe the heart of Common Table (in no particular order):
- Grace: Christ came to earth to live a message of grace, in a world that sorely lacks it. As followers of Christ, we challenge ourselves to live a radical message of grace, love and forgiveness – first practicing this message in our community and then extending it to the world.
- Community: Common Table exists only in the relationships among its members. We desire to foster a community where people are both accepted completely and encouraged to become more like Christ. We recognize there is tension between those two concepts of acceptance and accountability.
- Gifts & Needs: God has gifted each of us differently and expects us to offer our gifts to each other in order to meet one another’s needs. We trust that God will give us the resources we need to do the things He wants us to do and we are committed to testing and seeking His will when “tasks” and “resources” appear to be unbalanced.
- Beliefs: We believe our doctrine is adequately encompassed in the Nicene Creed. This is the guiding compass we will follow as a church, while still providing the freedom for members of the church to question and explore matters of faith openly.
- Mystery: God is big and we will never be able to fully understand Him. We are not afraid of unanswerable questions. We also believe that God can be experienced through the sacraments and that He works to reveal himself through the arts.
- Service: We understand that Christ came to serve, rather than be served. We are committed to modeling a life of service, both as a community and as individuals.

We say that and mean that because the common person at common table affects all of us in unanticipated ways. Take a peek into one of our more contemplative services:
This is a video except from a summer series focusing on "The Beauty of God."
This particular week was "The Beauty of God in the Bible". Attendees submitted favorite passages of scripture along with an explanation or background of why it was meaningful to them. The "why" was on the screen to set up the passage - which was to be read over improvised music.
What emerged took 45 minutes to traverse, but by the end we had gained a deeper understanding of those in our community, we had experienced a remarkable time of organic worship, and we had gained a profound understanding of how God is using His Word to speak to us today.
Yo, yo, yo. We heart The Common Table (even though we're yet to actually see a real live service yet...er, gathering).
Thanks for adding us as a friend. Here's a little banner to keep us close by...in your heart, you know, that stuff...
Oh geez...I hope we didn't just add virtual-grafitti to your page. Think of it as a portal from our world to yours. Let's collaborate on making a better world, ey?
Cheers, Ryan and Holly and Daniel and Jared (and Pax)
Can you look at this web site I just made for the child soldiers suffering in Uganda?
These kids need our help. Can you put the movies about them on the site into your myspace account?
