ITVS Community Cinema Seattle welcomes everyone to our free monthly screenings. Our third season is co-sponsored by KCTS Televison, KBCS 91.3 FM, Colors NW Magazine, and the Northwest Film Forum. From September to May, Community Cinema screenings offer special sneak previews of films scheduled for upcoming broadcast on the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens. Locally, Independent Lens airs on KCTS Channel 9. Community Cinema Seattle screenings feature panel discussions with leading community-based organizations, special guest speakers, information and resources, and other programming designed to help people learn about and get involved in some of today's key social issues. Past event co-sponsors have included the City of Seattle Office for Civil Rights, Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Seattle University, University of Washington, King County, the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, the Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas, Seattle Girls School, Seattle Chef's Collaborative, Pioneer Organics, Oxfam, Amnesty International, and many others.
ITVS Community combines partnerships, strategic planning, events and resource materials to support community and educational activities through Independent Lens films.
