Hard Cover-Chicago’s Cable TV Show by Youth for Youth /////////////// Hard Cover is the only television program of its kind in Chicago. It’s a program written, directed and produced solely by Chicago teenagers. Since the show began in 1987, more than 5,000 students have created over 300 programs...ranging from racism to teen sexuality.
This week’s show will focus on Generation M and the effects the media has on us. Today’s teens have become very dependent on technology and it is beginning to affect their health habits. They are living in a society that continues to project the easy way out with out displaying the negative effects that it will lead up to. This week’s show will address health issues, teen drinking, and pollution problems. Hopefully this will help teens choose a healthier life style.

In Chicago, gun violence claims the lives of over 20 public school students each year. This week’s episode of Hard Cover, “Stop The Violence”, will address the devastating effects of this growing epidemic and present ways that we can help to stop the violence.....................................

CTVN was founded in 1974 by Executive Director Denise Zaccardi as a special project of the Alternative Schools Network. Since then, over 8,000 at-risk Chicago youth have graduated from CTVN’s long-term programs, producing insightful media for their communities.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our mission is to empower low-income young adults and children in Chicago to identify, address, and resolve issues through the use and understanding of digital media arts. By learning how to express themselves through video production, youth gain the opportunity to investigate their cultural roots and think critically about the world they live in while presenting their ideas to a nationwide audience.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
