Who I'd like to meet:
By walking in the 2009 Out of the Darkness Community Walks to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), you will be walking with thousands of people nationwide to raise money for AFSP's vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives, increase national awareness about depression and suicide, and assist survivors of suicide loss.
Thank you for all that you do! I am a survivor of suicide. My brother took his own life when he was seventeen. My family's world crashed to pieces, but thankfully through time and understanding, we were able to heal and remember Chris's spirit every day of our lives. Keep up all of your hard work!
walked my first out of darkness walk Feb 14 ,09 in Orlando Florida @ Baldwin Park! AMAZING! IT WAS AWESOME! There are pics in my albums if you want to check it out or post them... it is titled "OUT OF THE DARKNESS WALK " In my albums! MUCH LOVE! XOXOO ~ Leslie
i know the sink and the rot got feeling "is this happening to me" and i know what it's like to want to end it all
driving home between the lines in the road i swear that i've been through this before when nothing makes much sense except for doing yourself in razor blades are hard to hold when we're hit in the heart with problems that won't shift it's hard to admit that we're afraid when we're hit in the head with unanswered questions that repeat "how could i ever live after this day"
we can take the hits and grow tougher collect ourselves to live longer and find there is no need to be afraid because we all have more to offer when we struggle to cope with whatever it takes to make the days we all have what it takes to make it home
Thanks for the add. My family joined the walk for TEAM AMBER in Huntington WV on Oct 25th. My daughter 29 died in May 2008 and has 2 children. It was a great experience and we plan to support this event every year.
The First Ever Out of the Darkness Walk in Mississippi was held in Hattiesburg, MS on November 8, 2008. We prepared for 100, prayed for 50 and had 166 walkers. Although we do not have a total, we believe over $8,400 has been raised so far. This is in a first ever walk in our state. Maybe lives will be saved.
Im sending this to all of my friends who have taken a part in saving my life~ and Out of the Darkness was a part of that. THANK YOU Thank You For everything that you do everyday. You have saved my life. My life has changed soo very much since the day I tried to take my own life. I walked today in Phoenix, AZ in memory of my father, John Joseph Charland Sr, who took his life 2/17/05. This walk was a HUGE success! I hope we can make it an annual event here in Phoenix.
My son and I walked at the Freeport, IL walk a few weeks ago. We walked for Chris Menefee, my son's father. I had never heard of this organization before and am soo glad that I stumbled across it. I needed that soo much! I thought the whole thing was a huge benefit for both my son and I. We look forward to more walks and other things that we can do to help prevent suicide!! Thanks a bunch!!! :0)
