'Como la luna y el sol' es mi segundo disco, y está inspirado en la música tradicional sefardí. Estas palabras pertenecen a una canción encontrada en Turquía y para mí simbolizan la relación que tenemos con todo lo lejano e inalcanzable. Tocando la Viola de Teclas (nyckelharpa) empecé a descubrir la belleza de estas melodías y a conocer la historia que encierran sus canciones. La ciudad de Toledo y sus calles han sido mi entorno cotidiano de inspiración y el escenario donde ha crecido mi interés por nuestro pasado sefardí, y así fui profundizando en este repertorio tradicional y elegí estas melodías, con las que he intentado buscar mi propio enfoque musical. La mayoría de ellas son cortas y sencillas así que añadí música como extensión a lo que ya estaba escrito, transformé algunas de ellas y adapté las letras en judeo-español, el castellano medieval que hablan los sefardíes. Este proyecto ha sido parte de mi carrera de estudios musicales en la Universidad de Lund, Suecia (Malmö Musikhögskolan) y lo hemos producido entre Carlos Beceiro y yo. Carlos toca el bajo, la zanfona, y todos los instrumentos de cuerda pulsada. Yo canto, toco la viola de teclas, violines y santur entre otros. Jaime Muñoz ha colaborado interpretando instrumentos de viento y Jose Manuel Castro las percusiones.
'Como la luna y el sol' ('As the moon and the sun') is my second album and is inspired by traditional sephardic music.These words belong to a song found in Turkey and represent the relationship that bonds us with all that is remote and unreachable. Playing the keyed fiddle (nyckelharpa), I started to unveil the beauty of this music and unlock the magic of its songs. Toledo, with its mystique and history, has been my inspiration and has sparked my interest for our sephardic past. This is how I have deepen my knowledge of their culture and choose these melodies to create my own musical universe. Most of the traditional songs were short and simple so I have added my personal touch on what was already written and adapted the lyrics to the medieval castillian which was spoken by the sephardics (judeo-spanish). This project has been part of my musical career at Lund University in Sweden (Malmö Musikhögskolan) and has been produced together with Carlos Beceiro. Carlos plays bass, hurdy-gurdy and all plucked strings instruments. I sing and play nyckelharpas, violins and santur among others. Jaime Muñoz collaborates playing blowing instruments and also Jose Manuel Castro with percussions.
