Sounds Like
Fun! Three part vocal harmony, swinging back up band, tight arrangements and clever improvised solos.
Company B Jazz Band, a 6-piece group in the style of the Andrews and Boswell Sisters, rouses crowds for dancing and smiles with their cheerful renditions of classic repertoire from the 1920s through 1940s. Loaded with personality, the harmonies of the female vocal trio are well-complemented by top-notch instrumentalists.
Company B Jazz Band is a light-hearted, hard-swinging group of talented young musicians based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The group's main attraction is its three harmonizing female singers who perform in the style of classic 1930s and '40s acts like the Andrews Sisters and the Boswell Sisters. The singers are backed by guitar/banjo, upright bass and clarinet, though the group is often augmented by a drummer, trumpet and/or trombone. They have an uncanny ability to cause feet to tap and faces to smile with their fun arrangements of classic jazz and swing era hits as well as with their classy image, based on the fashions of that era.
Company B was featured in the 2008 TD Canada Trust Vancouver International Jazz Festival and in the 2009 Chilliwack Jazz Festival, and they met with great success during their first international performances at the 2009 Sacramento Jazz Festival in California. They have delighted audiences in many of the premier venues in the Vancouver area, including the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, the Vancouver Club and West Vancouver's Silk Purse, and are becoming a popular act in their thriving local swing dancing community. Company B has been featured on CBC Radio Two's Canada Live series, seen on CBC Television and on CFJC's Midday Show (Kamloops, BC), and they have been featured guests on CiTR's Sweet and Hot radio program.
All the members of Company B have either completed or are working on their Bachelor's degrees in music and have extensive experience with and passion for performing.
Company B is available to play at dances, corporate events, weddings, private parties, festivals, and any other type of occasion. If you would like to book or otherwise contact Company B, please email company.b.band@gmail.com.
