Happy New Year and how is it going? The Hamptons Black International Film Festival is the first black film festival to be held in the Hamptons, a string of elegant beach towns located on the east end of Long Island, New York. Long renowned for it's reputation as home for the wealthy, or as a summer playground to residents of New York City, the Hamptons is also rich culturally in African American history. We are proud of this heritage and honored to introduce such an event to this great community.
The mission of the Hamptons Black Film Festival is to present culturally important cinema from all parts of the world that are informative, enlightening and entertaining to the community. We are dedicated to fostering new talent and helping filmmakers connect with the global industry.
The HBIFF, founded by Angelique Monet, is the property of GretaJoAnne Entertainment, a New York based multi-media company. Through the support of GretaJoanne Entertainment and a wide variety of corporate partners, the HBIFF remains dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of film.
The HBIFF's motto reads, "All things are possible if you believe." We believe and welcome you to join us in celebrating the best that black cinema has to offer.
Films nurture our ability to empathize with human struggles, which take place far beyond our own everyday experience and reality. Films also provide an escape from everyday realities.
HBIFF will provide world-class programming that will showcase people of African descent. The festival will attract people from all over the world since the Hamptons is known as a vacationers retreat or weekend getaway for the fabulous. Our film program is a four day film festival and year round screening series of International and American cinema. The film festival will provide powerful tools and resources for filmmakers after the festival. It will also give moviegoers an opportunity to see films from all over the world
