Confusion – the association for promoting audio-visual arts
The confusion (cfsn) association was formed eight years ago when a couple of loyal friends with a clear vision, some money and a bunch of motivation went off to promote breakbeat and drum&bass music along with visual arts in Zagreb, Croatia. Soon enough, all their effort brought about a happy audience and their most popular event Illectric funk became the biggest party of the sort in Croatia, attracting as much as 1200 people to the venues. Illectric funk club nights hosted Optical, Klute, the EZ Rollers, Peshay, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Rascal&Klone, Storm, BLIM, Chris Carter, Paul B, Chris Su, SKC, Calyx, Black Sun Empire, Teebee and many more. With the foundations for serious partying set firm, the collective decided to venture in a different direction and starts organizing the first Croatian snowboarding and music festival – SCORE* in association with the friendly diskonnection crew. The rest of their energy was put into the three years of Illectric Funk festival which also presented the rarely heard types of electronic music, and introduced the globally popular dubstep to the Croatian clubbers for the first time (LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad, DJ Krush, Dub Pistols, Mala – Digital Mystikz, The Bug, SKC, TM Juke live, Molara etc.)
The closing night of Illectric Funk festival in 2006. headlined by LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad in an open air venue in Zagreb is still often mentioned as one of the best d&b parties in Croatia, and we are proud to have intertwined our energy with 2000 happy clubbers.
cfsn DJs have played on numerous festivals such as the EXIT festival in Serbia, MTV Valkana Beach fest, Lift festival/Sarajevo film festival, Elevate festival in Graz, Austria, Motovun film festival, Rabac Summer Festival, Media Mediterranea, Seasplash Reggae festival in Pula, and Future Sounds of Zagreb to mention a few. They are often seen in various cities around Croatia, but also travel across Europe to spin their records – you might have run into them in London, Berlin, Graz, Klagenfurt, Sofia, Prague, Beograd, Sarajevo, Ljubljana or Bitola
The past year has been one of the most exiting for the collective. The warmer months were spent music-trotting around festivals and manifestations such as VIP InMusic fest, EXIT fest, Bass The World in Berlin, 4 elements festival in Graz, Jewish film festival in London and Zagreb, Burning The Beach Festival, oOoze festival, Outlook festival in Garden, Zadar, LTJ Bukem and Conrad in two locations on the Croatian Coast, the Massive Attack official after party in Ljubljana, Maistra Sunset After Beach and the Seasplash Reggae fest in Pula. However, the biggest and sweetest project was revealed to clubbers in early December in the form of Illectricity, the fourth Illectric Funk festival (www.illectricity.com).
Illectricity overcame Zagreb like a true storm this fall, bringing ten days of music and visual arts with some of the most creative and fresh artists today such as Rustie, Deadbeat, Jahcoozi, CLP, Al Haca, Various Production along with the famous Mary Anne Hobbs, Klute and Panacea. The festival parties took place in a deserted factory, while the opening was handled by the mash-up magician Boom Monk Ben. Along with all night dancing frenzies and amazing visual creations, the festival offered a number of workshops and lectures where those interested had the chance to communicate and discuss with the festival guests.
After a short break and a post-festival siesta confusion decided to say farewell 2008. with a bang! By organizing one of the wildest New Year celebrations in the Medika squat, cfsn made more than 1000 frozen clubbers join the dancefloor delirium. To make sure that good music is always available to those in need, cfsn also initiated the Supa Soap Shop evenings in caffe Kolding, where two DJs spend each Wednesday night making booties jump and slam.
Their newest project is ZigZag, a residency in club Sirup, which will bring the freshest of all things bass to all longing addicts one Thursday a month.
Confusion’s music interests have grown through the years, and now they are equally skilled at playing jungle, electro, electrobreaks, ghetto tech, booty, dubstep, grime, wonky, digital dancehall, glitch hop, hip-hop, reggae, dub, IDM, RAVE, 80's, 90's, as well as d&b and breakbeat, as long as it makes you want to dance.
Adviruz is the artist psedonym of Istanbul’s Pinar Gurcan, whose growing passion for sound is translated through her music. Since an early age, she has been listening and mimicking opera singers, writing melodies, songs and poems in which she spoke her mind and reflected her soul. All of which are evident on "Nightly Sounds", an 8 track album which is the equivilent of having a glimpse into a diary, learning of love lost, gained, a snapshot of the human condition from which we can all draw experience... All of these things are developed musically into minimalistic glitch, noise, idm, experimental music and microsounds, its influences reminiscent of work by artists like Tujiko Noriko, Mira Calix, Plaid and Björk.
Adviruz and Section 27 present "Nightly Sounds", an intricately woven and rewarding musical tapestry. Available now for free download.
To celebrate our first 27 releases on Section 27 Netlabel, we proudly present to you "Sectioned", a compilation of 27 tracks, amounting to 2 hours across two discs of twisted electronic beats, discordant melodies, haunting passages, broken ambience, bending senses of time and space, microscopic glitches, pounding bass frequencies, sounds between sounds, the human voice and the audible sensation of music dissolving in acid. This is the sound of your mind's eye. This is the sound of the Sectioned... Strap yourself in and enjoy the experience.
Also features a 75 minute bonus disc "Sectioned : Nonimxs", including 9 remixes of selected Section 27 artists by Nonima and 2 original tracks created by Silent Snow and Nina Kardec using existing Nonima tracks.

Almost Tomorrow is the third full length collaboration album from Section 27 Netlabel founders Tam Ferrans and Andrew Paterson, under their Nonima & theAudiologist guise. This time around the sound is more melodic, and has a definite feeling of a complete and more mature sound than heard on the previous LP's "Dystopian Battle Hymns" and "Ceremony After Amputation". If you are familiar with their individual projects you may even be in for a slight surprise, as the tracks are not as beat driven like before, but are more atmospheric and sound, well... "bigger". In its 75 minutes, Almost Tomorrow takes you on a trip from the digital rain-soaked cavernous scraping in "Thoughtograph", the ethereal beat jittering of "The Colour of Rain", intercepted transmissions from unknown places in "Com-Intercept", "Ganzfeld"s huge yet strangely insect-like beats until everything you knew comes crashing around you in "Almost Tomorrow". Burning pianos, glitched out soundscapes and intricately programmed beatplay, this may well be their best work to date. Consider it the soundtrack to a rainy overcast day, but with just that glimmer of sunshine peeking from the clouds. "Almost Tomorrow" wears its heart on its sleeve.
