Confusion was founded in Kuortane in the summer 2001 by Jukka Viitasaari, Jani Mustikkamäki, Iivu Saarinen and Mika Yli-Mäyry, and with this line-up the band still works today.
In the beginning, Confusion was just a another project band among all the others, assembled primarly just for "playing". The band started with few cover songs from Illwill (one-album "all-star" project band of swedish-danish technical thrash metal) and that same band was the main inspiration for the own material of Confusion. The guys had also been playing with all sorts of hero/power-metal assembles in their early years, and when the bands musical style started to go heavier and heavier, they decided to construct this four-men-noise-orchestra, which came to stay.
During 2002-2005 Confusion has come up with 3 ep-albums (Contamination, Remedy and Human Machinery), one web-single (Compound Fractures) and a couple of music videos. Years 2005-2006 were kind of a low-activity period for Confusion due to band members' military services and dividing around the country because of studies and work. Now the band has consentrated at the Seinäjoki-Tampere axis making these things more easy to deal with.
Nowadays, the music of Confusion could be defined as some kind of hybrid metal adding up noise, chaos and agression to "melody", if that's how you want to call it. At the present, the influences for the band's current material comes from such bands like Meshuggah, Pantera, Nevermore, King Diamond (mainly for their guitarist Andy la Rocque, who also played in nowadays deceased Illwill), and many many more. The ingredients for the music of Confusion are grinding guitar and bass sound, techical drum patterns, polymetric rythms etc, some power metallish or strange ambient guitar solos, and Iivu's screaming vocals and Jukka's clean vocals combined.
