--------------------------------------------------------------------
Having spent a fortune on records, tapes and going to live gigs in Greece; a year of learning how to be a B-girl when I was 15; 9 months of being a night-time radio presenter on Greek Radio for a Cretan folk music programme (well, I was my dad's slave); a 2-year speck as the singer of two student bands in Manchester ("None of the Above" who are still going!! and "Blue2"); very random attempts to learn the bass guitar; and 10 years of drug-free clubbing all over Europe, I finally accepted my teenage fantasy to DJ and did a workshop with Donna Maya from "Die Patinnen" in Hamburg in 2001 and was cursing myself for not having done it earlier!
I started teaching myself on the decks of three generous, kind and wonderful mates: DJ Ainge who had even given me the keys to her flat to go and practise while she was at work!!!!, DJ Stef the Cat who gave me my first ever gig at the Schnabelbar and lots of encouragement, and Thomas, an avid techno DJ himself, who gave me his whole gear while he was abroad - ein massives Dankeschön geht an Euch alle! Got my first gig already a year later, in late 2002, at the SCHNABELBAR in Berlin, followed by others in 2003 and 2004 at the "ÜBERNACHTSLOUNGE" club in Dresden and at the "KÖPI", an alternative cultural centre and squat in Berlin.
Back in Manchester in 2005, I got my own Technics and a Stanton mixer and I also started a course in Studio Engineering, Music Production and ProTools at the SCHOOL OF SOUND RECORDING (SSR). In 2006 I went on to do a course in MIDI and Music Synthesis using Cubase SX rewired through Reason again at the SSR, and so I started producing my own techstep (?) tunes (check out my music profile for a taster and some collabs where I've mainly provided my erm voice!).
Since 2007 I've been playing out a lot, mainly in Manchester but also further afield like Liverpool, Huddersfield, Leeds and even Athens. I've done a few guest mixes for: UNITY RADIO Manchester (S-Man's DnB show, Witness The Sickness, DJ Tay's show), DIVERSITY FM 103.5 Lancaster (Musicbox), BASSBOXRADIO Bulgaria (Nomadic Takeover) and OFFRADIO Greece (Bleep Bleep), whereas I do regular podcasts for the DUBEARTH worldwide crew, which I was most proud to join in November 2007! (See section on my "GENRE SALADS" below).
In 2008 I joined the Manchester-based EQ! crew of DJs, MCs and Beatboxers and in 2009 I landed a few residencies: one at Manchester's PLUTONIC (now defunct), then another at Huddersfield's POWAH Dubstep Sessions , and after getting shortlisted and winning their Dubstep DJ competition, now I am also a resident at VAGABONDZ in Leeds (with nights also in London, Brighton, Manchester and ... Croatia with the mighty OUTLOOK FESTIVAL!!!! which I'm playing in 2010 - Yaaaaaaaaaay!). So yeah, I've never been happier in my whole life! :D
Here are some nights and events I've been booked to play in the past 2.5 years in the UK and beyond:
- OUTLOOK FESTIVAL 2010 - VAGABONDZ CROATIA

When I started off in 2001, I was mixing mainly upbeat bouncy dark and fast DRUM & BASS and JUNGLE (and when it's not fast I like speeding it up :)) In 2008, I started playing out DUBSTEP too (Love at first sound!!!) which has now taken over in my sets, although I like to drop a little oldskool hardcore too :) Check my mixes on Soundcloud on the left. I've also played out some minimal techno too, so I guess before I die I need to play out some Schranz and hard techno as well (another one of my loves. :)
Since January 2008, I've been doing a regular podcast on DUBEARTH.com called the "GENRE SALAD" , where I introduce and play my favourite tracks of the day, year or life, usually brand-new dubplates and unreleased material straight from the budding producers coming from all corners of the Earth but also older tracks from bigger names that don't get played out enough. The tracks span many different music genres: from Dubstep and Metalstep, to Hiphop, dancehall and soca, to jungle, jungle techno, raggacore, speedcore and Schranz. I love giving names to new mashup genres! My latest are "soca dubstep" and "gabbastep" (although I've also been heard talking about "pasta-STEP" and "curry-STEP" too!) :)
To stream the "GENRE SALADS" and download them for free, just click on the fruit below or point your browser to: this web address . Check out also the corresponding DUBSTEPFORUM thread with a comprehensive list of all tracks / producers featured to date.
