Man, what a pleasure it is to be privy to such a great indie label release as St. Louis’ Metal Saviors CONQUEST!!! Choosing to do it right from the word “Go”, these guys utilize killer production and awesome studio engineering to make sure their riff-laden Metal attack is heard in the way that the 21st Century expects audio to sound! From the very first track, “Feel My Pain”, I knew this was going to be an album that I would not be doing any fast-forward through in order to get a feel for their sound. Immediately I sensed that they were in this with holsters unlatched and in no mood to spend time lubing my asshole for upcoming bodily violations to ensue. This is the real deal, folks. Fans of rip-roaring Power Metal meets Bay Area, Mid-Eighties Thrash need to make note of the fact that this is, hand’s down, the only thing to scratch the surface in over a decade! Sure, we’ve got EXODUS, TESTAMENT, and MEGADETH still earning their keep as of late, but I’m going to venture to say that even they are not utilizing the “up your ass and in your face” production and execution that CONQUEST has adopted for this record. This one could easily skirt a perfect 10 out of 10 rating if not for one wayward and out of place flaccid-boner in track 10, “Empty”. Don’t know what happened here, but if hindsight is of any value at this point and if the big boys come a-calling, please eliminate this song and go with what you know, guys! Not anything that can’t be overlooked, and mad kudos for the guitarwork, but stick with what you know, boys…Rock Out With Your Cocks Out!!! Head over to CONQUESTMETAL.COM now and get yourself a little slice of what will surely be a huge name in the game in the End Of Days forthcoming. Very Highly Recommended!!!

Conquest - "End Of Days" (Self Released) by Chris Forbes
This band has been around for a bit and here they are with another great release. Why this band isn't signed is beyond me as they are 100 times better than some of the signed bands stuff I get to review. This is honest to goodness power metal that never lets up. This is not some Hammerfall Jr. band neither. This is pure straight forward power metal with bits and pieces of speed. The singing is powerful and aggressive and the production the band gets is nice and thick and heavy. Killer release.
A BLISTERING ASSAULT ON THE EARS , CONQUEST HAS A SOUND THAT IS TRULY ALL THEIR OWN...WITH THEIR DUEL CRUSHING GUITAR ONSLAUGHT COMBINED WITH THUNDEROUS BASS & DRUMS, CONQUEST ARE A TRUE ORIGINAL , IN A WORLD WHERE ALOT OIF BANDS SOUND THE SAME AND ARE TRYING TO FIND THEIR NICHE CONQUEST HAS DEFINATLY FOUND THEIRS....CONQUEST WHO ARE ON THE JAGERMEISTER TOUR SERIES HAVE BEEN MATCHED WITH MANY BANDS RANGING FROM STONE SOUR TO OVERKILL ....CONQUEST ARE FAST TO UP & COME. THEY WILL LEAVE YOU WANTING MORE...FROM PACKED SELLOUT SHOWS AROUND THE COUNTRY THEY ARE A SHOW NOT TO MISS. GET READY TO HAVE YOUR HEADS BLOWN OFF WITH THE PUNISHING CONQUEST SOUND !!!

Thanks to everyone who came out to this years Metal Mergence. This was the third year for Metal Mergence and it was an awesome event. A special thanks to Scott Jackson for producing another great show. This year the Headliners were Dark Star Records own "RIVAL" who tore up the stage. All the bands were great. And there was even a record signing. Shatter Their Illusion signed a record deal with Dark Star Records. Congradulations to Shatter Their Illusion.
In the Wyrd Ways Rock Show this week, we’ve got music from Alestorm, Oakenshield, Motörhead, Saltatio Mortis and Witchbreed. We’ve also got a couple of classic live versions of classic songs. In The Spotlight this week are White Silence from California and Shock Of The New showcases Aisling, Imperial Conquest, Hanzel Und Gretyl, Virulys and The Spektrum. We also continue our push to get Benedictum some festival slots, and continue to look forward to this year’s Bloodstock OA.
