We invite you to The Conscious Comedy Explosion!, a monthly event which takes place in the heart of beautiful San Diego’s Diamond District. For the past year, we have been committed to booking talented and quality comedians who are bringing the ‘old school’ ways of comedy back. Our lineup is hilarious, smart and witty with a conscience appeal that is attracting many of San Diego’s premiere leaders, community stakeholders, as well as our community partners, family and friends to one night a month of uplifting local poets warming the “Mic” for the latest comedic jokes. These jokes are not just funny but they are healing to the hardworking individual who rarely gets chance to go somewhere fun, safe, and relaxing for a mature audience.Members

Conscious Comedy Explosion presents Clean Mic Documentary
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8Auj2sucdIOctober 2008 marked the San Diego launch of the much anticipated documentary Clean Mic: Laughing Until It Hurts. Clean Mic is an entertaining, thought provoking journey into the realities and adversaries facing Washington DC, New York, and Boston comedians.

Will Gorham, a filmmaker from Washington, D.C., screened his new independent documentary on black stand-up comedians and the question of racialized humor in San Diego in May of 2008. The film, titled Clean Mic, stars Dick Gregory, Paul Mooney, SNL alum Dean Edwards and Don Imus co-host Karith Foster. In addition to actual stand-up performance footage, Mooney & Gregory spend time in the film talking about stereotypes in comedy, Hollywood, and much more.
