Conscious
Consuming seeks to increase awareness of the impact of buying
decisions on our health, happiness, and environment. Through education and discussion
we encourage people to live in line with their values by better prioritizing
time, money, and material things.
Many of the products and services we use in industrialized societies today
are disposable, hazardous, and often, unnecessary. Yet our capitalist economy
depends on our consumption of such products and services, and we are told that
it's un-American to question our role in this arrangement.
Conscious Consumers
dare to question; a whole host of variables might go into our decision-making,
but the important thing is that we do that thinking. Before we buy, we wonder:
Is this item in line with my values?
Does this product or service support my vision for a sustainable, equitable
society?
Is there another product of service that is better aligned with my values?

Join Conscious Consuming at our Annual Gift
It Up Alternative Gift Fair!
Gift It Up!
is an opportunity to give back to the larger community and honor your loved
ones at the same time. You can eliminate holiday stress and rid yourself of
the nagging feeling that your uncle or son-in-law really doesn't need another
tie and your daughter's teacher really doesn't need another apple ornament.
At the fair, learn about the many local, national and international non-profit
organizations making a difference in your community. Choose from a list of tangible
gifts, such as art supplies for autistic adults, cattle for a family in Cambodia,
or dinner for the hungry in Boston!
Who I'd like to meet: People concerned with how the purchasing and accumulation of material stuff is shaping our culture, impacting the environment and affecting our health and quality of life.
Thank you for the gift of your friendship. Starting with what we choose to eat, let us all more carefully consider our buying choices and how they impact the planet. Until all on Earth live in peace and are free ... hugs to you, PLV.
Hello! Thanks for adding us! Will you please help us educate others by adding us to your top friends or adding one of our banners and/or videos to your page?
If you know anyone with little ones in the house, or who works with children, please let them know that we have turned our January Book "Parsnip Meets A Snowman" into a short voiced-over film. It's on our myspace page and on youtube.
The book of the month is always available to read free on our own website www. thefoodiesbooks. com but we thought this would be a nice way to reach children who are not yet starting to read.
So if anyone wants to help their child make the connection between weather / seasons and the food they eat, this is a little fun starting point.
Greetings to you Conscious Consumption, from D'Alvertones (your FAVORITE band). Thank you for your friendship. D'Alvertones tunes are downloadable FOR FREE, or you can buy them if you choose. Feel free to ADD D'Alvertones to your page if you'd like. Take care and GOD Bless. -D'Alvertones
