Influenced by Talking Heads, Fela Kuti and PJ Harvey, The Conscripts blend
the obscure with the accessible and have been rocking crowds since summer
2006. Featuring DJ and trumpets, they have been described variously as
"dirty new wave soul" and "gypsy-tinged pop dance with strange time
signatures".The Conscripts have already developed quite a following around Oxford and Bath, where initally baffled punters have fallen in love with their scratchy intensity and pitched deck-vs-brass showdowns. Despite their modest sole aim of making wrong notes and wrong rhythms sound right through sheer willpower, they consistently get the place bumping.
hey dan, nice to hear from you guys, how has everything been going? unfortunately i won't be able to help out this time for a couple of reasons - 1) the radio is off air at the moment as it's the summer holidays; and 2) i'm not actually going to be doing the show this year as i'm about to go off to russia as part of my course! and i'm in london at the mo so can't come to the gig either :( really sorry dude! but i hope all is good on your side, definitely stay in touch... hopefully some mates will be taking over the show, so i'll let them know you're interested.
Hello again, Roxy's Wardrobe have pulled out of our Louisiana gig on September 24th (Wednesday). I suggested to the organiser that they should check you out and maybe get you on the bill. What do you reckon? Craig.
Hey man. Yes, indeed, I'll be there on the 19th barring an act of God. I saw the Whores the other night, so I'm sweet with them at the moment. I'll try to drag some people along. It'll be interesting to see what the venue's like for live music. Also, got another gig at the Louisiana on the 24th (2 days after the Junction thing) with an amazing group called Jumpship. Check it out and come down if you're bored. Cheers!
Hey guys, Just confirmed our first gig at the Junction, Stokes Croft, Bristol for the 22nd of this month. Would be great to see you down there. It's a night of our friend's bands so it'll be cheap and you can meet our little group. Let's start a scene! SeeBeeOne.
Ha ha! Cheers for the comments, bud. We're quite happy with the results. Let us know if you need to fill a support slot at any point. And keep up the good work - your tunes are quite addictive!
