About me:
I own a home in Florida. The powers that be would love to get rid of my property tax. One of their plans is to raise the state slaes tax. I'm against it. From what I can tell the people that are for it, are anyone who does not get the home stead exemption.Here are a few of the reasons why I am against the sales tax increase.
1.The sales tax right now is 6% how ever in some counties and cities the sales tax is 7%. The 1% goes to the clinics and other usefull things.So if the sales tax went up it would be 9.5% sales tax in those counties and cities.
2.Who is really going to feel the pain? People who rent. This sales tax increase will be tough on single Mom's, young families and the elderly. Not everyone in Florida owns the house they live in.
3.If you ever plan on making a big purchase in the future you will be paying more. If you buy a truck the sales tax could add up to over the amount that your proptery taxes were if this were to go through.
Don't let snow birds and the rich decide for you. If we get a vote on this Vote NO To 8.5%.
