Miguel Constantino is an
independent recording engineer. Following
studies in electronic and audiovisual (DUT Génie electrique, Master
Image et Son in Brest), he worked as a musical and technical assistant
at the Iannis Xenakis Centre of Musical Creation in Paris (CCMIX). He
left to create Constantino Recording in 2005, which he is running in
Brittany, France.
He has since recorded numerous bands such as Papier
Tigre, Centenaire, Amélie, Sincabeza, Faustine Seilman, Perceval,
Fordamage, Passe Montagne, Lebowski, My Name Is Nobody, etc...
His most recent works include the engineering of Choo Choo Shoe Shoot,
Elwood & Guthrie, the Patriotic Sunday and Kevin Shea and Matt
Mottel's band Talibam.
Miguel's approach favours attention to details in microphone placement
and acoustic of the recording venue. He privileges recording live in
his studio, but does not exclude working on an instrument-by-instrument
basis for productions that require it.
"Now comes The Enemy (...) produced with the help of sound engineer extraordinaire Miguel Constantino" ( Centenaire / PassionIndieMusic)
"Our side was expertly recorded Jan 2008 in Brittany France by French producer Miguel Constantino. Mottel’s synth drives deeper than previously heard on records, this track slams from the start & ends in deep dusted sonic residue presented beautifully on 180 Gram Vinyl -- go record with Miguel and experience the sonic epiphanies! (Wallace records 10" LP: www.wallacerecords.com)
"
(Talibam !)
"Miguel
Constantino, who has recorded the album, would appear to be the best
way to obtain that blasting Chicago Sound without having to go at
Albini's Electrical Studio." ( Choo Choo Shoe Shoot / Nextclue )
"It takes sound engineer Miguel Constantino (Fordamage, Papier Tigre)
and Bob Weston's mastering (Shellac) for the quatuor to express its
full potential in this successfully produced album. The Choochoos'
rough and almost fleshless sound takes its ease and gives us a
pervasive chill that sticks to our skin." ( Choo Choo Shoe Shoot / Stnt )
"The album is superbly recorded by Miguel Constantino. It has become so
usual, that he would make you feel jealous"
( Faustine Seilman / Octopus )
"It is Miguel Constantino, already responsible for recording Passe
Montagne, Fordamage or Paper Tigre, who engineered their album. The
three Bordelais precisely called on him for his experience of brut and
raucous noise, in order to reach a reality close the one they
experience on stage."
( Sincabeza / Longueur d'ondes 39 )
"The songs were
recorded live in a country house, on a fine carpet in front of a fine
chimney. A naturalist recording (by Emiliano Flores and Miguel
Constantino) and discreet mastering recreated the impressions of
proximity and intimacy characterising the concerts."
( Centenaire / Chronicart )
