Bio
.. Formed in the beginning of 1999, Contagion SHS set out to do something different, rock the lame asses of Skamania County. Josh Wilkins, at the time a senior at Stevenson High School, contacted Matt D. Parker, after hearing that he played bass for Josh's at the time girlfriend's brother. Matt accepted the position as bassist and the duo began writing material. The name Contagion came about within the first weeks and Jeremy Paxton was added to play rhythm guitar. In need of a drummer, a good friend in Josh's social circle recommended her ex-boyfriend, Nick Ober, for the position. Nick was very experienced in drumming and proved himself to be an incredibly versatile musician for the sounds forming in the group... .. The original four-song line-up that filled a small set on April 8th in 1999 was recorded live and only two copies exist. The songs were "Hey Me," "Angel," Nightmares and Dreamscapes," and "Q." At the beginning of June, the song "A Stroll Through the Park" was performed for an audience, though never made it to the demo recorded that coming Fall. The fifth song that appeared was "16.".. .. Shortly after the demo was recorded, Nick and Josh both set off for school, leaving Jeremy and Matt behind. The two continued to write material, getting back with the group whenever Josh and Nick would come back to town, however things were falling apart. In 2000, Matt discovered another band called Contagion, an established, major label band, thus having to change the name. Contagion SHS was chosen, as SHS was the link between the quartet... .. In 2001, the band finally called it quits and gave up. Contagion had faded. It was at this point that Matt published a few CD-Rs of the 1999 Untitled Demo for consumption of his close friends. Copies can be produced, upon request and cost of materials... .. So many songs were cut short before given a chance to show the world what could really happen. It's a shame nothing more came from Contagion SHS. -

Sounds Like
A Song-by-Song Breakdown:.. .. ..16:.... It was like Van Halen anally-raping the members of every alternative metal band ever... .. ..Angel:.... Our classic rock song, written by Josh, "in the cooler" where we often joked that all of our hits would come from. This was the love song, this was THE love song... .. ..A Stroll Through the Park:.... Sounds like the band Live, it was originally partially written by a good friend of Matt, though the band's version sounded nothing like the original, except for the verse riff. The lyrics were Matt's first ever lyrics. The song was performed as a tribute to the original composer of the verse guitar riff, Alexander Bourdeau... .. ..Hey Me:.... Our alternative staple. It rocked the house with every beat. We had pauses, we had solos, we had shouted chorus lyrics... .. ..Nightmares and Dreamscapes:.... A mockery of metal, a mockery of industrial. Jeremy originally played the bass during this track while Matt just sang and jumped around. It all started as a joke. It still stands as one. The original song was written in five minutes and never changed much... .. ..Q:.... A tribute to the character named Q on the TV show StarTrek: Next Generation. This was our poppy, punky, uppy song. We used to get the audience rocking during this one... .. So many other songs drew from so many other genres, we just never had a time to show the world what we had in us.
