Generalplot -- jokes -- irreverence -- rock n roll -- sex -- good guys -- bad girls -- fighting the good fight against big publishing.
MusicWhen we first started CP, we turned to the original punk bands for inspiration on how to operate a creative business. Their do-it-yourself ethic has been a model for how we put ourselves out in the world. ~~~ And while our tastes in music cover a wide range, punk and rock n roll rule the night around here.
MoviesOnes with fast-moving plots and good writing. And maybe some nudity.

   contemporary press's Blurbs
About me:
Contemporary Press is an independent publishing company, based in Brooklyn, NY. Established in 2002 by a group of hard-drinking writers and artists, CP has one simple mission. We publish plot-driven novels and short stories full of violence, humor, sex, quirk, and any other element of raw humanity. In other words, it's pulp.

So don't come to us looking for those books that offer "a powerful look at one family's search for the meaning of life" -- you won't find them. To that, we like to say Fuck Literature.

But if you like quick and dirty reads about hookers, cabbies, politicians, detectives, washed-up B-movie actresses, serial killers, and drug dealers, you're in the right place.

Check out Contemporary Press.com for more on our books and upcoming events.
Who I'd like to meet:
People tired of paying up to 20 bucks to read bloated, boring paperbacks. And if you're near NYC, come have a shot with us at one of our bar readings.
