I'm formerly the bass player for the band SLACKS. These days I’m concentrating on my video work (see my webpage) and solo writing.
If you have a post-rock, ambient, down-tempo or otherwise cool band in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania and need a bass player, get in touch.
Liner Notes
Track 1 – Looking All Casual (1993) - I wrote the song, played the guitars, bass and the drum programming (Yamaha RX15!). The guitars are a little out of tune but not so bad considering the time period and my skill level at that time. I hope you dig it. It was one of my favorites.
Track 2 - House Built on Water (1997) - I stopped writing solo music in 1997 for a variety of reasons. Towards the end of that phase I got heavily into electronic music, which none of my "metal" friends truly appreciated. I thought what I was doing was artistically legitimate and I still think that today. For this song, I composed the song, did all sequencing and drum programming, tape samples, and spoken word.
Track 3 - A Musical Ode to the Philosophical Underpinnings of Scientology (2007) - This song was musically inspired by a few of my favorite early 90s bands most notably The Jesus and Mary Chain. The samples were carefully selected from the cult classic film by Ed Wood, ‘Plan 9 from Outer Space’. Finally, the title and concept is derived from my distain for money-grubbing cults with celebrity spokespeople. Initially it was only supposed to be scratch track (hence the boring drum part) but it grew organically to become what it is. I think it's worthy of hearing.
Track 4 - Moments Passing (2007) - Right now as I type this, I think that this is the best sounding song I’ve ever recorded. The title may change but the concept, the inexorable passage of time, was on my mind from the beginning.
The main sample is my dad yelling at me when I was I kid. I was dawdling over breakfast and needed to go to school or something. I love that clip, it always makes me laugh. I recorded all the stringed instruments and programmed all the drums and keyboard sequences.
I also enjoy making pictures for TV screens. Check out my personal website.
PUNKMONKEY PICTURES for more on that. Here are a few clips taken from some of my favorite recent projects.
Hey Ed! How goes it. Hope you're doing great. Watching your videos you totally just made me want to go out and shoot some nature. Really. Maybe next weekend I will. Thanks and cheers brotha!
Hey man, Cool Stuff. I particularly like Moments Passing a lot. You should make a music video! Here's my secret band (I'll do it all myself kinda) www. myspace. com/limablue
men jumpin all over the place in tight pants and sounding like the rebirth of FNM (since mike patton is all about self indulgent insanity these years) .... that's why I, personally, jizz all over the place for this band. damn, just thinkin bout that and now i gotta go clean my shorts.
you don't have TIME to fool around anyMORE. ha. classic. that's when dee snider is supposed to walk into the room and show your dad what's up. anyway- great song. moody. is there a washboard in there? or is that the bass strings buzzin?
Moments Passing is pretty cool..I like the Police feel at the end but man, I would put some strained yelling at the end, it would tie the whole thing together..like the rug in The Big Lebowski.
I hope you're feeling better and I really hope to see you in NY in a few weeks...Love-Vic
