Indonesian-born actress Agnes Muljadi began her career as a ballet
dancer and received her professional training in Indonesia, England and
America. Following the completion of her training, Muljadi performed leading and soloist roles with various ballet companies in the Pacific Northwest. Muljadi made her professional acting debut in late 2005 when she won the coveted lead role in the critically acclaimed documentary style short film, 'Cool Daddy.' With essentially zero on-camera acting experience, Muljadi shocked critics nationwide with her award winning portrayal of a sexually abused daughter. Within a year, Muljadi has completed four leading roles in various independent films such as 'Vanish', 'Porcelain', 'Forecast', and the highly anticipated British short film, 'Continuum.' Deemed one of the most promising newcomers to emerge in recent years, Muljadi has also been cast in two major upcoming feature films, 'The Blank Canvas' and 'Dichotomy.'
Born in Brazil, Rodrigo DeMedeiros moved to Seattle in 1994. DeMedeiros started acting professionally in 2000 and has since been cast in several highly acclaimed independent feature and short films ('Bullets, Blood & A Fistful of Ca$h', 'Natural Possession', 'Porcelain' and 'Curtains, A Film Noir'). He has played a drug dealer, priest, spy, dancer, love interest and drag queen, always with the same passion. DeMedeiros hopes that his craft will continue to bring attention to all Latinos and Brazilian artists in the international independent film community. Best known for his versatility, charisma and passion, DeMedeiros plays the role of Scott in 'Continuum.'
Had fun at the gala. Had to run out kinda early so I didn't get a chance to give congrats on finishing the project. You guys seem to have assembled a group that brings the attitude, commitment, and effort needed to be successful. Kudos!
Jay, Agnes, et al, Not sure if you are opposed to music on the site, but I was remembering the ballet scene in the studio and the music playing was just crushingly beautiful. it would be a great enhancement to the site. 2cents.
Félicitations to the superb cast & crew of 'Continuum.' I am very much looking forward to seeing the final product! The behind the scenes photos are staggering and very touching! The future of this project is truly limitless.
The overwhelming chemistry between Ms. Muljadi & Mr. DeMedeiros is just unbelievable! Great casting choices, they look like 2 lovers destined to be one another! Everything about them looks natural and flawless. The first picture from the behind the scenes - day 6 leaves me breathless.
Hello all! I wanted to tell you all again that I had a great time working with everyone on Continuum. It seemed to be over all too soon, but I guess it had to wrap up sometime...
Please keep me in mind for future endeavors, 'cos (as M. Jackson sang) I'll be there...
Cheers!
We were so excited to have day 5 take place in our house. Although we didn't
much apprecitate being locked up the whole time, the cast and crew made it as painless and enjoyable as possible. Good luck with the rest of the film! ~ Mishti & Masala
This is going to sound so redundant but I feel compel to let the masses know one more time about this phenomenal production. Unlike most of the press who came to observe the accident scene, I chose to observe a more intimate scene at a local restaurant in downtown seattle. The effect is the same! I have been on many film sets and I can honestly say that the calbier of talent and professionalism shown by the cast & crew of 'Continuum' is staggering!
Let's start with the super talented and versatile actress, Agnes Muljadi whose career I've been following since I saw her brilliant work in 'Cool Daddy.' She's the asian version of the great Cate Blanchett, another iconic actress with a gift for impecable dialogue timing! I can't recall seeing another actress who could deliver her lines with such ease, subtlety and perfection in recent years. Throughout the entire scene, Muljadi's eyes display every single thought that motivates her character as if her character is having a constant inner dialogue. Her brilliant listening skill never failed to make it seem like she is always processing and responding to her co-star. Even her smallest gestures such as placing her hand on her co-star's speak volume and can make you quiver. Muljadi is one great actress who fully understands that acting is all about reacting and being in the moment. Despite of her many brilliant attributes, what impressed me the most about Muljadi is the fact that she's at ease with herself and the people around her. This is a woman who's not only talented but feels extremely at home on a film set.
Director Jay Purcell is nothing short of brilliant!! And last but not least the crew, what an amazing group people with such great energy and passion! It's very obvious that they have a profound respect, trust and, at the risk of sounding cheesy, adoration for one another.
We will start giving live updates at our radio station soon :)
So, I think the only thing that could've made the sound situation better yesterday would be a marching band and small arms fire...
Thanks to all for dealing with my grumpiness. Hopefully I didn't get too pissy with anyone. I only want the best for this project because it deserves just that.
See y'all this weekend!
just wanted to say this is a one of a kind film coming from seattle...and i cant wait for the final product.
And im thankful for being apart of this awesome project/film....=)
To be quite honest, I was a bit skeptical when I received an invitation to observe filming of 'Continuum' since I have not been impressed by recent films coming out of Seattle but I have to say that this production has renewed my faith in the Seattle film community. Words can't even begin to describe how phenomenal it feels being a guest on the 'Continuum' set! This production is redefining the true meaning of a superb independent film making. Never before had I been on a film set of such magnitude (especially for a short film!). The realism of each scene, the cars, the ambulances, the enchanting Seattle skyline backdrop, such impecable production values! It's obvious that Purcell and Muljadi have put their heart and soul behind this project and at some point made a conscious decision to do it ALL THE WAY!! And I have no doubt that they will be rewarded accordingly. The view on the tiny monitor was breath taking thanks to their dedicated and arguably the most professional crew. The cast is solid all around, every single one of them from the principal actors to the police officers have an innate sense of belonging. They all look like they're born to play their parts and thus making it hard for the audience to picture anyone else in those roles. Hopefully my article will do justice to the story behind this incredible film. I am looking forward to it all. And though I do not consider giving career advice as a part of my journalistic obligation, I do have one advice for anyone who would like to make it in this business, stick with the winning duo of Agnes Muljadi & Jay Purcell. They, by far, are the REAL deal!
Thank you for adding me. After spending the last five years in the frozen tundra of Alaska it's an absolute thrill to come home and see projects developing in the Seattle area. Good luck to you all...and Happy Easter.
I would like to sincerely thank the whole cast and crew of 'Continuum' for having me as a guest. What an honor! I was very impressed with the professionalism, dedication, talent and attention to detail shown by every single member of the cast and crew. This film will take the Seattle film community to a whole different level and create new standards for others to follow. Being part of the set confirmed my belief that the major buzz surrounding this film is not only justified but much deserved. Good luck to all and I can't wait to see it all put together on the big screen. Thanks again!
Thanks for the add :) This has got to be the most professional and promising film coming out of the Seattle area. The behind the scenes pictures are incredible!
I agree with the consensus: Agnes Muljadi will make history with that gut wrenching ballet piece of hers. Still have goosebumps from it all, what an exquisite artistry!
I absolutely agree with the comment below! I too had the honor of watching Agnes' absolutely gut wrenching dance scene for the film. WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! I can't wait to see the feature length version of "the story of a lifetime" that is 'Continuum' because I truly believe that Ms. Muljadi's divine performance in that dance scene alone should earn her a spot in the 2009 Academy ballot. But most importantly, it will surely leave a permanent imprint in your heart and soul.
Had the pleasure of viewing Ms. Muljadi's tour de force ballet piece for the film. It was by far THE most original, daring, intense, touching, spiritual and brilliant performance of all time. Ms. Muljadi, your artistry is quite mind blowing and I can't wait to see what's in store for 'Continuum.'
