Ineke: "Ever since childhood, I was fascinated by rhythm, dance and music. My father listened to the Platters, Ben E. King, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mahalia Jackson, …. Unconsciously this became the kind of music that touches my soul. I am still grateful to him for this."

After a few years of searching for a strong and solid identity, CO.ntradiction is now ready to conquer the world.
In 2004, Ineke started composing melodies and bass lines on lyrics she wrote in the past. A few try outs under the name of “Blue Soul” and “Ineke & CO.ntradictie” were received by the audience with a lot of enthusiasm.
End 2006, the first real identity of CO.ntradiction began to take form. After 2 demo’s recorded at “De Studio” with Dirk Miers, time was ready to record material of a higher quality. Dirk brought Ineke in contact with producer Jeroen Swinnen, which opened a new perspective. Qualitative recordings in may 2008 also brought the live sessions to another level.
Ineke Van den Zegel on vocals and double bass, Alec Ilyine on guitar and Stef De Duffeleer on drums are getting a solid live reputation as a trio, sometimes accompanied by saxophone. With their different backgrounds, they present their songs in a mysterious and proper way. Listen and judge for yourself…

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
