Starting out in 2OOO Contra has constantly tried to evolve Into a genre defying outfit , whilst still remaining true to our punk rock roots and love of reggae , ska and dub . In Late 2OO4 Contra took a well deserved break . After a year original members Ross and G decided to re-band and call in Germar on bass / 2nd guitar and vocals . In under 1O days we wrote and recorded 7 songs together over the new year period (O5 / O6) at Primitive Studios Vienna , Austria .
2OO6 has been a good year for Contra and Disenfranchised is out . Still waiting on reviews.....( hint hint hint you lazy bastards ) however initial reaction is very positive . Contra are working hard and writing new material and a possible 5th release/singles may be on the cards in the near future.
Contra look forward to new listeners and fans, whilst we hope to stay true to our friends and supporters in the vibrant and prolific Music Scene of Aberdeen, Scotland. Where we have been lucky to have had the support and the chance to showcase our material and develop as a band.
We would like to shout out to our previous band members Jim Hassan and Scott Bowden, all the bands weve gigged with over the years and every single last one of you guys, who have come to our gigs, bought our CDs and helped promote Contra
