The Convulsions
are a Punk Blues band originally based in Chicago when Ben Ruth, band founder,
brought with him from England the old concept of British Rhythm and Blues
as a sweat pouring, often blood letting, shaking manic musical experience
with roots in bands such as the Yardbirds, Pretty Things, Animals, Big Three,
(okay, even lunatics like Screaming Lord Sutch) and on the US side, Blues
Magoo's, Wailers, Sonics, Standells, Ramones, Iggy Pop et al: groups who shared
similar heroes in Little Richard, James Brown, Howlin' Wolf, and any number
of truly touched and demented kings and queens of iconoclastic riff based
mayhem during the US's turbulent musical past.
British Punk Blues combines elements of Rock, Blues, 50's rock and roll, and
60's Soul. British Rhythm and Punk Blues has always been characteristicly
very high energy, somewhat insane, yet strangely demented, and without pills
and frills.
British Punk Blues combines all of the above with thundering 70's ghetto funk
and 80's & 90's punk energy.
British Punk Blues demolishes emo rock with gusto wherever it finds it.

Hello Ben, My my, you are a busy boy:)hope things are going good with you and the lads. Now that my house is more or less finished(cowboy builders)I am ready to go ahead and release my Ascension Meditation CD. Universal Music Publishing will be releasing it globally...look out world aye is a comin' in:)
Come join the celebration over the release of our new CD – Boteco!!
‘Boteco’ is an artful mixture of neo-futuristic traditional Brazilian rhythms with the right quantity of the best North American spices. It is funk and rock boiling and baking with samba, maracatu, frevo and baiao.
Put Pele and Mohammed Ali in a fictional mix machine. Now add Frank Zappa, Sergio Mendes, Tom Jobim and Roger Waters and fused in to one. What a mix eh? Bat Makumba is this fusion, multiplied by 2.
