About me:

I am a father first. I'm also married to the greatest woman I've ever met. I go to school (yuck). I work (double yuck). I also write. You'll find info below about my first book. I have two other projects in the works, so prepare to be amazed. I am a pretty boring person. I just love spending time with my wife and two sons. If I could get paid to do it, I would spend all day, every day, with them. I only have a handful of real friends and I honestly prefer to keep it that way. You know who you are! My mind is full of so many ideas, my only worry is that I won't have enough time to do everything I want to.

"The sun's already high when I finally get home from the airport. My cheeks sting with dry tears and my contacts hurt from the sun, despite my sunglasses. I turn off the engine and sit, finishing my cigarette, unsure of what to do next. The summer I've waited so long for is now ending and in just a week I'll be starting college.

I sit in quiet reflection, yearning to remember all the details of the events that have recently expired. I long to have Tawny next to me, laughing her big laugh, teasing me the way she always does. I knew from the moment I left the airport I would never have her in my life the way she's always been. We’ve spent nearly every day for the past two years together, inseparable, but I no longer have the security of that controlled environment. The reality of the world around me started to haunt me as I drove those busy freeways home, alone.

I slowly step out and breathe in the warm air, flicking my cigarette butt. The sky's clear and the air's perfectly still. The wind has finally ceased and the stillness is saddening. I make my way towards the stairs that lead up to my apartment. I walk the steps in the shade and feel the hint of a chill that's not too far away. The chill that signals the end of summer and the end of all the smells that will now be forever different. My knees will start to ache soon and all summers to follow will never be the same. No more lazy days in the sun, no more late nights without care. No more “summer breaks” or virginity to lose.

"Riveted from the first page, I enjoyed this coming-of-age story and ripped through it in just a few hours. Amazingly good first novel with engaging characters and believable dialogue. I hope to see more from this author. Kudos!"

Thank you for all the positive feedback about Lancaster's Shop and Dine Program! The program came to a successful close a couple of weeks ago, but the Shop and Drive program is still in effect (this provides rebates for the purchase of a car from the Lancaster Auto Mall in the form of Shop and Dine dollars, which can be used at participating businesses just like the other program). Unfortunately, I can't answer your questions about Palmdale's program, but you can contact their City Hall at (661) 267-5100. Thank you again for the feedback!
