Welcome to the official myspace site of singer, guitarist, guitar synthesist fanatic, bassist, songwriter, producer and engineer, Marc Cooper.

MARC COOPER'S NEW CD: " RECEIVING & TRANSMITTING" IS NOW AVAILABLE!! This eclectic, organic spiritual instrumental CD is for those who love to meditate, have visions, dream, and feel, see, and hear healing through the music. This instrumental disc is a departure from the guitar driven recordings he has done in the past. He decided besides playing the guitars (acoustic and electric), and his guitar synth setup that he has come to incorporate into his recordings, he also played the drums, percussion, and fretless slide bass. Recorded at Sound Garage studios in northern California, he filled the studio with people to come in and simply "soak" to the music. These sessions were originally recorded on guitar and each one last 45 minutes. From there he started his quest to record the other instruments and trim it to roughly 60 minutes of music that takes the listener on a journey. This recording plays as one entire track but you can access the 13 tracks (for digital download purposes) individually. It is recommended to be played in it's entirety. The guitar work is richly textured and at times sounds unlike a guitar...there is a ethereal quality to the recording that has the ingredients for allowing healing through music to happen.

COOP PLAYED AT THE ALL STAR GUITAR NIGHT AT 2009 WINTER NAMM SHOW. HE SHARED THE STAGE WITH MURIEL ANDERSON, TRACE BUNDY, VICKI GENFAN, BEN LACY, JAY ROBERTS, TOMMY EMMANUEL, SEYMOUR DUNCAN, JEFF PEVAR, WILL RAY, PETE ANDERSON, FRANK GAMBALE, ALAIN CARON, STU HAMM, DANNY GOTTLEIB and others. Several new CDs are in the works, A live double CD from the tour that recently happened in Singapore and the rumblings of a new band of mine... "The GYPSY SYNDICATE" that I'm excited to unleash soon. It's a sound that is a fusion of world, Middle East and Gypsy influenced original improvisations.

The other 4 songs cover a variety of styles: Full Throttle: a rocking geetar number , Moollon Bay (featuring Coop's Moollon custom shop overdrive /distortion pedal), From the Garden to Gethsamane (Coop's first recording where he extensively used his guitar synth. Even the intro sounds, birds, water, forest, outside of the sampled voices, was all played on his guitar synth setup). A Battle Cry ( his second recording doing all the violin strings and efx with his guitar synth / and also TURBULENT THOUGHTS where he plays extensive synth guitar and electric too. Seppo Salminen played some amazing drums on those three compositions).

Early on Coop has had the absolute pleasure of studying with some of the finest guitarists on the planet: Howard Roberts, Mick Goodrick, Tommy Tedesco, Ron Eschete, Pat Martino, Joe Diorio, Steve Morse, Robben Ford, Don Mock (!)... and participated in classes with Joe Pass, Steve Travato and many others.

Coop's career has taken him all over the world performing and exciting audiences in such countries as Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Hungary, Spain, Germany, Africa, Scandinavia, England, Austria, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Sweden and throughout the US and Canada. Coop has performed live on stage with Joe Walsh, Steve Howe, the amazing Danny Gatton, pick up designer Seymour Duncan, Michel Cusson (UZEB), drummers Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth/Joe Satriani), Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart/Jeff Beck), and Brooks Wackerman (Infectious Grooves), bassist Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report /Santana), , Pat Travers, and Canadian blues artist Rita Chiarelli. In 2007 while on tour in Australia he performed with guitar wizard Brett Garsed . He has shared the stage with Jennifer Batten, Andy Timmons, and many other fine players throughout his global travels.

He started CoopDeVille in the early 90's as a blues project which featured a variety of talented musicians from the Toronto area including Jeff Salem on drums and Peter Murray on bass amongst many others. In that time what happened in Toronto at TACF was revolutionary and Coop ended up playing with musicians Jeremy Sinnott and Rob Critchley and too many others to mention here... but the big thing was the Almighty showed up and changed the atmosphere forever!!! Over the years he's also played with Lyndell Cooley, Joesph Garlington, Don Potter, Paulette Wooten, Molly Johnson, Brian and Jenn Johnson, Kim Walker, Darlene Zchech, and many others.

In 1996 Coop, as a special guest, toured the UK with Yngwie J. Malmsteen and in 1997 he toured Turkey with drummer Dom Famularo and bassist/guitarist Awesome John where they did TV shows in Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, Izmir, and Antalyia for an audience of 120 million people on the Euro/Sky Network! In 1999 Coop played at EuroMusic Vienna, along with Uli Jon Roth and Milan Polak and others.

Coop is the author of 6 guitar instructional books, CDs and for the music publishing company, "MEoW" (Music Education Workshop) and worldwide with Music Sales Corporation. His books and jam along CDs, entitled "The Guitar Vocabulary Series", have sold successfully throughout 15 countries worldwide. Coop has also been providing many companies with his favorite presets that have appeared in: Digitech 2101 and the 2112; GNX series of modeling guitar floor pedal-boards, TC Helicon VoiceLive, Powercore Tubifex and TC Thirty. He has appeared in several videos playing through Johnson amps, TC Electronic G Major and TC Helicon's VoicePrism and the 2005 DVD on TC Electronic G System. Coop has a couple of videos for the Vocalist Live 2 and one for the Jam Man on the Digitech website.

Coop endorses V picks, AXON guitar synths, Brian Moore Guitars, Body Glove, DIGITECH vocal harmonizers, Evidence Audio cables, The Guitar Wheel, BOLT amps, Moollon effect pedals, and Musser slide rings. .
