Jesse Hudson (Guitars, Vocals)
Evan Ramsey (Bass)
Eli Withers (Keys/Synths)
Sam Withers (Drums)
The four of us have been playing together in one form or another since we were kids. The first incarnation of Cooter Brown came together around 03-04. Starting with Jesse Hudson (Guitar/Vocals), Evan Ramsey (Bass), and Jenna Hudson (Drums); we quickly added Sam Withers as the full time drummer and Jenna stayed on as an alternate percussionist playing Bongos, Djembe, Tambourine, etc... Our first public show was in early 2005 at Billiards's Blue Room. We had split up by Halloween. The story reads like an episode of VH1's Behind the Music.
About a year later Jesse, Evan, and Sam tired of working on other projects and went back to work writing new songs and relearning old ones. With a now large catalog of kick ass original material and several cover songs they reemerged as a power trio. In 2007 Eli Withers (Sam's older brother and longtime friend of the band) joined the Brown ...
The first public show with the new lineup and material was August 29th 2008 at Lindberg's in downtown Springfield. And just like that, we were off!
Cooter Brown has shared the bill with lots of local bands including The Shotgun Brothers Band, Green Coast, The Darkstar Wormwood, Holstein, Faatherton, S-FOIL, The Detectives, The Hot Club of Springfield, Ego Magnet, The Social, Neoteny, Phases, Ember, Fuller's Earth, Troy, Levee, Break the Barrier, Life 2.0 and many more...
Influences
- It brings me great dissapointment to announce that Cooter Brown is now on an indefinite hiatus. If we emerge again, we'll be better than ever. Sorry to our fans hoping to catch another show, but thank you all for your support over the last few years; it wouldn't have been the same without you.
