Coporial is the brain-child of Rob and Uday.
After a year of jamming together and writing songs, they decided it was time to get a band together.
Here are a few pics of us all in action!
OUR PROFILES:
Here are profiles of each band member, and how they joined the band, all written by Uday except Uday's profile which was written by Rob:
Rob "The Robfather" Whelan
Rob is the life-loving ‘guitar freak’ among the five of us, which comes with working with guitars for so many years, first with Johnny Roadhouse and now with Music Ground on Oxford Road, Manchester.
His natural talent is as a brilliant and fluid riff composer and arranger. His passion for music is unsurpassed, having (like with most things) kept an open mind about his music for many years and finding the niches he is extremely passionate about. It is not a difficult observation to make from his performances.
He will often carry only his own Marshall stack (pride and joy, don’t touch) a fair distance to practices and gigs just so he can bring along his ‘sound’ without compromise.
Rob is a tremendously generous and wise character, coupled with a quick witted sense of humour which make him an invaluable asset to anyone who knows him. He is also always known to be up for any and every drinking challenge, even if it means he’s bed-ridden for days after. The important thing is winning!
Uday "The Dude" Goswami
I first met Uday whilst i was workin at Johnny Roadhouse back in 2005, he'd often come in plug in to the biggest amp he could find and ram it up to eleven... usually while i was hungover lol!
Unfortunatly not long after meetin uday he suffered a severe accident at work resulting in him being confined to a foot in plaster and crutches for almost a year!
This didn't stop him though, he regularly came down to the shop after physio, picked out the best guitar and amp and jammed harder and faster than ever... now thats METAL!
We started jammin together in the shop when the boss wasn't around writing songs and now we're best mates... good to see his foot on a monitor now too instead of bein wrapped in a sweaty plaster lol
"Here's to you dude" (raises glass of triple JD and coke).
James "Blacksack" Surridge
Coporial takes a great deal of pride in introducing the mighty, multi-talented James on bass.
Apart from an injection of growling and ruthless bass lines, James is an outstanding tattoo and airbrush artist and is responsible for re-creating the Coporial logo and artwork as seen now.
He was an instant hit with the band when he first arrived to audition because of his unique energy and enthusiasm. Like the showmen of his ilk, his ability to stay at ground level is almost nonexistent. Find multiple bass flips, high diving, the crucifix of sixteen strings and the ZZ Top boogie parody in his stage moves arsenal.
Underneath it all, James is another powerful driving force behind Coporial and another reason to take this banner as far as we possibly can. Find your name in his tattoos for a fiver!
Matt “Smiler” Lawless
And most recently the Jester initiates Matt Lawless into his ranks. After a completely inspiring audition, Jes and the boys immediately came to the decision that this was the man for the job amazin fills, focus, and timing, truly a force to be reckoned with. Matt recently recorded an 8minute song with us in one take after just 3 practices, now thats talent! a great character to be with both on and off stage we welcome you to a long and happy life with Coporial Matt.
And finally, boys and girls…
Coporial are back to business as usual and better than ever, its just taken us some time to find a new brother-in-arms and recover from a mild case of death. Watch this space very closely!
S.O.P.H.I.E
Coporial supports the S.O.P.H.I.E memorial foundation which has been set up after the tradgic death of sophie lancaster in August 2007
the band urges anyone and everyone to get behind this charity to help make brutal attacks such as this a thing of the past
