Along with their original music featured on this site, Copper Rose members, Johnny Phillips, Maggie Ryan and Tom Ryan, play sounds of an excellent vintage...folk/rock, Cajun, r&b, country and cabaret...eclectic and well blended.

Johnny Phillips: Vocals, Cajun accordion, guitar, drums and harmonica
Maggie Ryan: Vocals, bass guitar, lapsteel guitar and the ever ingenious "foot tambourine"
Tom Ryan: Vocals, guitar, bass guitar, fiddle and keyboards
Maggie: "I am drawn to the music of Bonnie Raitt for her deep soulfulness and incredible slide guitar; I find inspiration in the feminine power and fire of the Dixie Chicks; and I love the lived-in funk and sassy style of Saffire - The Uppity Blues Women".
Tom: "My guitar inspiration has always been Eric Clapton - he's amazing; When I play keyboards, I feel the energy and power of Billy Joel and Elton John; My solo voice is similar to Huey Lewis, but what I find most interesting as a vocalist, is developing subtle harmonies for our songs as a band".
Johnny:"My influences span many decades and all styles of music - early blues, rock/pop, jazz, xydeco and cajun. They all cook down to a base from which I interpret what I perform. In many songs, while sounding somewhat like the arrangement and artist that made the song his own, I try to impart the flavors that count, and just let it come out as it will."
The Original Copper Roses
...are conceived, designed and executed by Johnny Phillips who is also a sculptor working in steel and other metals. This beautiful piece of art became our symbol and is pictured on each page of our website:
What moves Copper Rose as a whole is a search for harmony in all its meanings; inner peace, peace and brotherhood in the larger world, and harmony of voice in song. We explore the beauty of many cultures and genres and incorporate their rhythms in our sound.
While we perform a large selection of old standards, classic folk/rock, Cajun, cabaret and blues, we infuse our special sense of harmony within all. Performance is theater - sight, sound, ambiance and message. We draw from decades of musical history to complement our original songs so the overall effect on the audience is comfortable familiarity spiced with the exotic flavors and excitement that smooth vocal harmonies and unique styling bring to the event. -Maggie
Hi Maggie,
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed hearing Copper Rose play the other night at Big Daddys.
Really enjoyed your energy and sound and especially your selections of songs, which seems to fit each of you to a tee… you guys are GREAT!!
Also love the sprinkling in of Cajun music, very different and enjoyable, can't wait to hear some more.
And thanks for the bracelet, I love it.

Copper Rose Brings Cajun Music and Fun to Big Daddy’s in Massapequa Park.
The main thing that comes to mind about Copper Rose is: “fun”. It looks like fun, sounds like fun, and feels like fun. They play a mixture of contemporary folk-rock, originals, and authentic Cajun tunes. John Phillips pulls quadruple duty on voice, guitar, Cajun accordion, and drums. Maggie Ryan sings, plays bass, slide guitar, and the ingenious “foot tambourine”. Tom Ryan plays lead and rhythm guitar, and sings. Copper Rose likes you to get involved in the music, and if you are standing close, they will hand you a percussion instrument and take you in. This is guaranteed contagious fun for all ages. Go to their website to see where you can catch their next gig, You won’t be sorry.
