copperwound was officially founded in august of 2005, but has gone through so many changes over the past two years it's scarcely the same band. brian is the only original member left, but the vision and sound still remain the same.
the name copperwound (pronounced 'wound' like 'sound') describes the sound of their music, both literally, and figuratively. the copper wound strings they stretch across their acoustic guitars is the birthing place for almost every song they write. only after the song has developed do they introduce it to amps and effects. in this manner, they can stay true to their sound, spirit and foundation.
after their first gig, in which they played the slot for a defunct band, the calling for their music was quickly apparent. club owners started contacting them, asking to schedule. over the next year they played over a dozen gigs, picking up steam and fans simultaneously. during the midst of this moderate gig schedule, they managed to find time to get into the studio and record their first album, titled there are no dogs.
copperwound now plays regular shows at some of the hottest venues in dallas, including club dada, lakewood bar & grill, poor david's pub, and the green elephant. they were also featured on a radio show at kbigradio in october of 2006, where the dj said 3.1 million listeners had tuned in for the show. this was the first time their demo cd, consisting of four tracks, was aired in any kind of professional capacity. copperwound has also played a prime slot at the white rock lake festival two years running. there is no doubt the band is picking up steam. it's not happening so rapidly they lose their hats, but it is happening quickly enough to notice.
there's a lot going on behind the scenes, and they've expanded their crew to help them with the peripheral work so they can concentrate on what they came here for: the music. and with that peace of mind, they're able to focus and maintain their creative energy, following the one cardinal law by which they are governed... keep it copper.
Copperwound welcomes Baby Tessa, our drummer's daughter. Congratulations, Kautz family, and God bless.
Lake Texoma (last night) was a BLAST!! The birthday boy was charming and they went all out for him! COPPERWOUND sounded GREAT and had the best possible: stage, lights, sound...hats off to the ones that helped with that! Another private party next weekend, too. I'm going to have to quit my day job to keep up! :)
SUCCESS at White Rock Lake!! Our guys rocked Dallas and got noticed. They may have a private party coming up soon as a result. Not bad for a one-set gig in a park, right? Stay tuned for more info and even pictures!
You guys SUCK! You know I can't make it to a Thursday night show...play my song for me anyways! Can't wait til you record it so I can rock it out ALL THE TIME! LOVE YOU ALL!!!
