Pulling out his gun, the sheriff looked right down the barrel at the robber. “There ain’t enough room in this town for the both of us.” Gritting his teeth, he pulled the trigger. The bullet sped through the air, and then bounced off the robber’s chest. Ha! You’ll never catch me! I’m the gingerbread man!
With a big guffaw, the robber got back on his horse and went off into the wilderness.
One day, while the sheriff was eating some porridge, the robber came up behind him and hit him over the head. The sheriff asked: “Why’d you do that?” and the robber responded: “I dunno. Let’s be a band.”
And so they were.
