Cord (Attila Gál) was born in Szeged (Hungary) in 1979. He still lives there. His musical carreer started
when his parents sent him to a primary school specialized in music. There he got experienced in playing
the clarinet but after 4 years he gave it up and became keenly
interested in electronic music-making.
The elevating of his musical standard can be dated back to the first years of the university, where he - due
to the Internet - became familiar with the more sophisticated technologies and new musical trends.
There and then he created drumandbass tracks (under the alias Chord) and by sharing them regularly with
competent authorities his improvement continued on the right way.
In 2001 in the competition of the leading Hungarian drumandbass portal (drumandbass.hu) there were 2 of
his tracks among the five best songs and the next year (in 2002) Venation ensured him the first place.
His first released track was Mermaid (in cooperation with Chris.su) on the label Subscope in 2002.
The most important point was also in 2002 when – after an inevitable change of his name to Cord – he
became engaged to Chi Recordings which label is increasingly acknowledged on the international
breakbeat scene.
Meanwhile he took his degree at the University of Szeged (as a programmer and program-developer
mathematician) and devoted his second diploma to the digital synthesis.
His musical taste is wide-ranging, he likes jazz, ambient, classical music, minimal and experimental
electronic works, actually anything that contains a lot of interesting musical information and multivarious
harmony. Hence he dislikes all the trendy and compromising-commercial tunes.
