Sounds Like
Many people have described the music as "singer-songwriter soul rock", "Melodic-Modern-funky-Mexisouldelic".. or this....."If Pink Floyd played country this is what it would sound like". There's something for everyone so you just have to come and experience the band live to get a taste of what the band is all about. Once you hear the music, you'll be hooked!
**************************************************************************
Original, passionate, deeply moving, ethereal, progressive, roots honoring, ambient, funky-groovy, torch lit, sadcore, uplifting, ethnically diverse, imaginitive, simple, honest, thought provoking, lonesome, evolving, melodically blue, shake your bon-bon, dreamy, stormy, out at sea, inside your mind, motivational, wide open, intense, relalxing, bittersweet, harmonic, accessible, now, yesteryear, tomorrow, floating, off balance-upright,unafraid, get down, liberating, never half assed, you get what you give and nothing less...................................music! These are many of the sounds that make Corduroy Jim. Formerly known as Mescalito and founded in 1999 by leadman Martin' Rodriguez and super-studio/jack of all trades musical partner Rich Thomas, the band initially put out it's debut effort, "In The Desert Of Devotion". Over the years players changed and eventually the band changed it's name to Corduroy Jim, then recorded the current release "Hanger" in 2004-2006. Contributing musicians on the album were Michael Palladino on drums (Grampa's Chili/Tricycle Side Project/Mescalito), Pete Novembre on bass (OM Trio/Grampa's Chili/Phatty Lumpkin), Aaron Shock on guitar (Jellibone/The Good Life/Soup/) Rich Thomas on guitar/vocals (Mescalito/Kao Tao/Maggies Ashes), Nick Chargin on keyboards/vocals (Bliss Ninnies/House Rockers/Monkey Knife Fight), Matt Rodriguez on percussion and drums (The Storytellers, Blacktop Project- featuring Tommy Guerrero) and Martin Rodriguez on vocals/guitar. "Hanger" presents itself as a full length album that carries with it a theme: "Matt's Jam" is the thread that holds it all together, taking the listener on a journey that is sonically delicious and emotionally charged. From the rocking desolation of "Lead Me On", to the funky-chunky "Blues For T.G.", to the candy like rain drops of guitar and Hammond organ of super-soulful "Last Dance": "Hanger" is a living example of how albums used to be done. From start to finish, there is no song that takes a "timeout" or is looked at as a "throwaway tune". We are all so very proud to present this album and we are sure that you will love it, too. Look for Hanger to be available soon on iTunes and CD Baby.
Thank you so much for your support everbody! We appreciate it and really can't do it without all of you!
Peace-Corduroy Jim
