MICK COCKSEDGE -
LEAD VOCALS & RHYTHM GUITAR . *****************************
Mick has a desire to write great songs & quite bizzarely loves to introduce something he likes to call "A melody" into each one !!!!!!!! . This year he just wants to be happy with his gal Jo Jo . He has been collecting Cowboy hats for 15 years ( he now has 3 !!! ).
EDDIE POTTER -
LEAD GUITAR . *****************************
Ed is a confirmed Guitar geek and will stop at nothing to get the wierdest guitars made to his excact taste ( No Philips screws allowed !! ), he is borderline nuts !!.Ed has finally met a lady & he now lives as a recluse in an igloo somewhere in Shetland .
TONY HILLEBRANDT -
DRUMS . *****************************
Tony is the good lookin' one in the band ( his words !) , he hits round things !! ( brushes only Tone !), he also plays drums for hot sensations ( i had one of those once , got some ointment from the Doc ) Jessie & The Orbits , he loves Rockabilly & his Girl Tasha ( innit! ).
STEWART PANAMANN -
UPRIGHT BASS *****************************
Stewart also likes to wear a hat or two . The king of the four string bass has a happy go lucky outlook on life and can often be found doin' loadsa work for charity in and around the soup kitchens of Croydon !!!!.
'Lover's Moon' The Cordwood Draggers
MARTY ROBBINS, HANK WILLIAMS SNR, LATTIE MOORE, GENE VINCENT, SKEETS McDONALD, MERLE TRAVIS, JOHNNY CASH, LEFTY FRIZZELL, LOUVIN BROTHERS, CURTIS GORDON, MALCOLM YELVINGTON, CHARLIE FEATHERS, GRADY MARTIN, BUCK OWENS RIP, JOHNNY HORTON, WEBB PIERCE, HANK THOMPSON, WYNN STEWART, CARL PERKINS, RAY PRICE, CARL SMITH, MARVIN RAINWATER, AND MANY MORE
Sounds Like
Imagine Hillbilly on the moon , naked ladies making moonshine & drinking Radioactive Martini's in a small dark bar in Vietnam , this should conjure up an image pretty much know where close to what your gonna Hear , but hey worth a try , and we DON'T sound like some piss pot rockin band playing 12 bar cover versions to an unsuspecting crowd of people who have payed good hard earned cash for one night out , but instead have to sit through a mind numbing set of unrehearsed versions of " Ain't that a dilly " , " Good Rockin Tonite" and anything from tHe Johnny Burnette song book !!!!!!.
The Cordwood Draggers started back in July 2002 and in those days were a three piece , no drums , just Double Bass , Lead Guitar & R/ Guitar /vocals , This line up , Mick Cocksedge , Eddie Potter & Jose Espinosa recorded 2 albums and played all over the world including VLV6 , Hemsby , Screamin' festivals + many other European/ USA cities .
By 2005 Mick & Eddie said goodbye to Jose and said hello to Nick Hoadley ( Bass) & Tony Hillerbrandt ( Drums). As a Four piece the band have really taken off , playing VLV9 , Summer Jamboree ( Italy ) , another tour of the west coast USA , Sweden , Germany , Austria & France .
************************************************************************
This line up in early 2007 recorded the criticlly acclaimed third CD (A Starlit Shindig With ........ ) and again the band had written the majority of songs themselves , proving once again that this band just gets better & better .
2007 found the boys Headin' back to the USA to play a tour on the East coast which inc shows in New York , New Jersey & Chicago with final shows at the Rockin' 50's Festival at Green Bay , and then on return even more shows in Germany & Europe & the UK.
Late in 2007 they parted company with Nick and for the remaining shows that year had the pleasure of using the Bass playing skills of Neil Scott & Stuart Panamann ( thanks guys ) They have just released their latest CD ' A Good Ol' Country Jamboree ' on Rhythm Bomb , this release has the boys joined by Phil Morgan (pedal Steel) , Dave Priseman (Trumpet) , Jim Morrison ( Fiddle) & Slim ( Accordian & Piano) .
************************************************************************
So the Cordwood Draggers go from strength to strength , you wont find to much 12 bar here , you wont hear the same old cover versions played over & over again , some people don't like them , they don't care , they only care about the people who come out to see them & buy there CD'S , not the people that follow bands because they think they have too .
ONLY THE CORDWOOD DRAGGERS ARE 100% HILLBILLY !!!!!!!!!!!!.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
