About me:
During the adolescent ages, when video games & cartoons are king, dreams of playing in a rock band seem far from reality...Not so for Corey Lane, who picked up his first set of drumsticks at age two. Ever since entering the 9th grade, Corey has been hard at work forming bands, writing songs and touring relentlessly in search of the dream. In 2000, along with other Orlando natives, Corey helped form a band called Big Mother Thruster. The band took form & would gain momentum pounding the Florida circuit in multiple SUV’s & a trailer. In 2001, the band caught the attention of a Maverick Records rep. leading to a recording contract under Maverick/Warner Bros. Records.
Along with a few member changes in the near future, Maverick Records by their side and a new record in the making, the band also took on a new name...”Mercy Drive”. While on the road supporting such acts as Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Adema, American Hi-Fi, Seven Mary Three, Staind & Jane’s Addiction, Mercy Drive’s music caught the attention of the World Wrestling Federation, DreamWorks Records & MTV resulting in four tunes being aired on MTV’s Tough Enough television show & one song being featured on the DreamWorks Records release of the Tough Enough soundtrack, which has sold over 130,000 copies nationwide. Pro-wrestler & Mercy Drive fan Maven, currently uses one of the bands songs as his introduction to the mat.
In 2004, Mercy Drive again teamed up with the WWE to write the theme music for the new Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton. The song is currently set to be on the next WWE Raw CD..
Also in 2004, Corey joined the Tallahassee based, Wind-Up recording artist “Big Dismal”. Fresh off of three ..1 singles in the Christian Rock market from their debut record “Believe” and with Corey now on drums, Big Dismal was invited to write two new songs for the movie soundtrack “The Passion Of The Christ - Songs Inspired By”. The band’s first single off of the soundtrack “Rainy Day” is currently in rotation on numerous Christian Rock, Christian Pop and Mainstream Rock stations across America.
Corey has also very quickly become known as “THE” drummer for hire in the Orlando area, recently playing on demos and records for Maverick, Sony and Atlantic Records. Most recently in 2005, Corey has made the “big move” out to Los Angeles, CA to further persue his career in music. As Corey’s musical journey is still so young, it's not hard to see that the best is still to come.
