I am a solo performer, but have also been a member of the band Estrogen with Lori Muskat and Carol Kassel, and am now also one half of a duo with Carol. Our new name: Estrogen Replacement Therapy
Influences
Beatles, Richard Thompson, Joni Mitchell, XTC, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, Bjork, Suzanne Vega, 60's Pop/Rock,
I started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. I was inspired to do so after watching The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I loved their voices, their songs, their playing, and them as people.
A couple of years later, my brother and I recorded cover versions of their music (bouncing tracks between a reel to reel tape recorder and a stereo cassette machine -you can imagine how the sound deteriorated!), and I also picked up a bit of piano, banjo and drums at that time. I also began writing my own songs.
I loved to play the guitar, and so learned about as many styles of playing as I could, and tried to incorporate these into my own playing. So I listened to and bought music books for Bluegrass, Ragtime, Celtic Fingerpicking, Blues, Travis-Style Country, - even a bit of Classical guitar music. I also listened to British Folk Rock artists including SteelEye Span, Planxty, Incredible String Band, Fairport Convention as well as the music of the 60's when I was growing up.
While I had a period in my late 20's when I didn't play the guitar at all, by the time I was 35 I had returned to playing and writing. When I was 38 I realized that I had let time slip away and let my fear of performing keep me growing as a person, and becoming the musician I was meant to be, so I went to my first open mic, which was run by the organization Outmusic. I was petrified, but I did it - and I've been performing now for 12 years. I've made some wonderful musical friends along the way, some of whom I've collaborated with. I've recorded 3 solo CD's, a 4th album with the band Estrogen (comprised of myself, Lori Muskat and Carol Kassel), and Carol and I are presently working on an album we hope to have finished in the near future.
I've just finished my third solo CD - "From My Balcony" - 13 new songs, available on CDBaby:

Tapping on monoliths after the rain. The breeze, the sound waves that ripple upon the shores of acoustic beauty... musical creations that warm your soul.
Wow! This MySpace thing is great!!! Now all I need is an I-Pod and a Hi-Def TV and I'll be all ready for 2008!
Just wanted to say that "Now" is still a frequent visitor to my CD player! I can listen to "Lyrical Girl" (my favorite) and all the other tracks over and over again and keep hearing new things every time!
Long time no see! If you're free, come to the open Mic tonight at Rockwood! Athena Reich is hosting. Kris Landherr will be in town and he'll be there! We miss you! Luv, Jed
If you haven’t had the chance to stop by the page in a while we have a lot of good stuff going on. I have 3 new songs on the page one for FREE DOWNLOAD. That is an old instrumental I did a mixtape version of that may sound familiar, as well as 2 original songs.
GET BUSY NOW- Old school flavor with the new school electronic sound. I produced the backbeat for this song and my man Dr Fink (Prince and the Revolution/NPG) played keyboards, mixed and engineered the song.
STEREOTYPE-WRITER- I also produced this song with Dr Fink mixing and engineering. This is a song about racism, as well as racism towards white people, and sexism detailing the controversies I have faced surrounding my name “WHITE LESBIAN RAPPER”. (see blog for more info).
Thanks I hope you get a chance to stop by the page and enjoy some of the fresh new treats I have for you all. And if you’re a fan and like a song on the page please feel free to add it to your profile. (All love is much appreciated) Big things are poppin in 2008 including multiple collaborations with some well known names. Stay tuned…..
Hey Corinne, love your music. BTW P&A is back up, hope to see some more posts from you in the new future. I've already got some new stuff up. Spread the word to those you know from P&A on myspace. I'm going to try to recruit some people I know--I would really like to see the site come back to life again.
There's something about songwriters in cyberspace...we're an obsessive bunch. Yet, good thing the 'net is here, because I wouldn't have met you without it. Your writing, playing, and production abilities and tireless energy to devote to songwriting AND live in NYC always amaze and throw a smile on my face. We'll hook up for a coffee one day, dear Corinne!!
This is one of the finest writers of poetry and songs I know.
Just popping by to say I really appreciate your support and your friendship. I hope things pick up over their and I really can't wait to read more new work from you, especially your music, ~Joey
