Heroes* Sonora Webster- Carver:
She past away in 1999 but this was one couragous and fantastic lady. Sonora was a young girl during the Great Depression and had to leave home at a very young age. She joined a horse diving act called W. F. Carver's High Diving Horses. The horses would run up a ramp and the rider would jump onto his back, and the horse and diver would plunge 40 feet into a swimming pool below. During one dive the horse Sonora was riding got spooked and feel awkwardly into the pool. Sonora had her eyes open when she hit the water; the impact caused a hemmorage and Sonora was permanently blind. Even though Sonora was blind she over came that.
Sonora Webster fell in love with Mr. Carver's son, Al who was 20 years older than she was and when she was 20 and he was 40 they were married. Later Sonora the brave blind girl learned to dive horses again and did so for over 11 years; and the audience for which she performed never knew she was blind. Disney has made a film about the strength and courage of this woman who died at the age of 99. The film is called Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, Sonora also wrote a novel about her life called A Girl and 5 Brave Horses. Now, the movie version of Sonora's life is great and I love it but it's not exactly accurate. It's more of a fairytale than everthing that happened to Sonora but it's still fantastic, as is the novel!!!

* Justin Yoder:
I was born with a medical condition called Hydrocephalus. Some people who have my condition are very bad off and are in and out of the hospital a great deal. Many people who have Hydrocephalus are mentally handicapped, have Spinal Bifida or both. I am so lucky to not have some of the hinderances that others like me do face, and for that I am truly grateful!!! I look up to those people who have my condition who are worse off than myself. Justin Yoder is one of brave people. He is worse off than myself.
Having not only Hydrocephalus but Spinal Bifida as well. Confined to a wheelchair Justin over came his odds. Even though people like myself are not allowed to play or participate in any kind of contact sport Justin has made a name for himself. Justin Yoder races soap box derby cars and has won several awards for his racing. He is one brave kid and I look up to him for showing not just people with Hydrocephalus but everyone that no matter what you may have nothing can hinder you if you have a dream! Disney has also made a film about Justin's life called, Miracle in Lane 2.

Both of these people show the world what can happen if you never give up and always go for your dreams!! That's why they are my heroes!

That Children of the Corn Fanatic's Blurbs
About me:

Hello everyone! To my friends and browsers alike, I hope you enjoy my page. Welcome. Take a look around, you never know what you might discover. My name is Cristal, and I am a great many things. I am a writer, a poet, a photographer, a jewelry maker, a geek, a horror buff, a Children of the Corn FANATIC, a “Carolina” girl, a Christian, an introvert, a hopeful, a dreamer, a lover, a reader, a trivia nerd, a nature lover, a bit of a feminist, an animal lover, a wildlife conservationist, a Big Band & Swing lover, a lover of British men, a collector of many things, a word lover, a crossword puzzle addict, a vintage lover, and just a flower child at heart.

There are a lot more things I am, and a lot more things I could have turned out to be. But, I’m glad of the person I’ve become. I often times think I would have “fit in” better if I would have grown up during the 20's, 30's, or the 60's. I know that I was put on this earth for a purpose, to do great things. I don’t know exactly what great things I was made for just yet, but I know I was made to change the world in some extraordinarily, fantastic way. I was a miracle baby right from the start and I think I was meant to make miracles come true for others. I wanted to become an author of Paranormal Romance and Young Adult Horror Fiction novels but a true miracle happened to me one night not too long ago and I was given a purpose, to write inspirational Christian poetry. So, at the moment that is what I am doing. I still haven't lost the dream to become an author of scary tales, that dream is just on hold right now until I finish what the Lord wants me to do.

I am a total movie nerd, horror is my poison of choice. I usually love b-grade, low budget horrors that have a good plot. I’m not much of a gore hound, but I’m more of a plot and characters kind of girl. Since I am such a movie connoisseur there are a lot of actors and actresses that have caught my eye along the way. I have a “Top 4" list of actors that I am addicted to and have to see every film they are in. That list includes; Tim Curry, Crispin Glover, Christopher Lloyd, and that devilishly handsome, Jake Busey. My favorite actresses can be minimized to a “Top 2" who are; Bette Midler and Winona Ryder. Others in the movie biz that have caught my interest are; Matthew Gray Gubler, Chris Marquette, Kris Lemche, Aaron Stanford, Ben Foster, Michael Samluk, Samuel Child, Rider Strong, Angela Bettis (my twin), Emily Perkins, Kimberly J. Brown, Mandy Moore, and Clea DuVall. I am quite the introvert so while other girls my age are drinking and dancing at the club on the weekends, I can usually be found in my room watching horror movies into the wee hours of the morning. Or, I can be found at the local video store browsing the titles for at least an hour. Like I have stated, movies are pretty much a substantial staple of my life.

If there is anything else you’d like to know just shoot me over a message. And, just so we’re clear I am not interested in “hooking up” on-line so if that’s what you guys are here for you might as well keep moving. Also, all the things in my sections really are things that interest me so if you like them too let’s talk about them.

I have Yahoo IM. I can be found under the alias: walkeroftherows

Who I'd like to meet:
I’ve already met a lot of great people during my life on this planet, and I’m sure I will meet several more.

My best friend in the entire world is #1 on my friends list. Her name is Bobbi and we have been friends since the third grade, so well over fourteen years. She’s one of the coolest girls I know and we’ve stuck by each other through some crazy times. She’s my Sexy Legs sista and an all around great person! My other best friend, Ben is my #2. I’ve been friends with him since 9th grade home room so that’s ten years! I miss your singing to me over the phone Ben! Keep your eye on him he’s going to be famous one day. Even though they don’t live in the same state as me anymore I still keep in touch with them and our friendships haven’t changed. They are the definition of true friends!

Besides those two cool cats I want to meet:

Creative people involved in the arts.
Other horror lovers.
Children of the Corn fans
. Other writers.
An agent who wants to take me on.
People in the publishing industry.
Movie makers.
Other hippies.
Painters.
Beatniks.
Poets.
Jewelry makers.
Wildlife conservationists.
Goo Goo Dolls fans.
People who have things in common with myself.
People who know how to hold intelligent conversations.
Old friends from high school.

People who are a little more well known than you and I:

Although, in my opinion everyone’s a celebrity of something. :)

Jake Busey
Tim Curry
Crispin Glover
Christopher Lloyd
Better Midler
Winona Ryder
Matthew Gray Gubler
Michael Phelps
Shaun White
The Goo Goo Dolls (especially that “dreamy drummer” Mike Malinin.)
Aaron Stanford
Ben Foster
Kris Lemche
Samuel Child
Michael Samluk
Rider Strong
Jake Muxworthy
Angela Bettis (My twin)
John Franklin
Courtney Gains
Ryan Bollman

There are probably more I just can’t think of anyone else at the moment.

LOVE SUFFERS LONG AND IS KIND; LOVE DOES NOT ENVY; LOVE DOES NOT PARADE ITSELF, IS NOT PUFFED UP; DOES NOT BEHAVE RUDELY, DOES NOT SEEK ITS OWN; IS NOT PROVOKED, THINKS NO EVIL; DOES NOT REJOICE IN INIQUITY, BUT REJOICES IN THE TRUTH; BEARS ALL THINGS, BELIEVES ALL THINGS, HOPES ALL THINGS, ENDURES ALL THINGS.

ty for the add. :) love the COTC, have since it came out. wish there was more written about John Franklin, but the sad thing is, there isnt. dont know if thats his doing or what.
its amazing how this movie has lasted for 25 years, but for what it is, i can see why. it was filmed brilliantly and an amazing cast. hard to find horror movies with that kind of esemble ie Linda Hamilton, John Franklin, Courtney Gains, etc. hopefully itll last 25 more years.
have a great week. :)

Yeah, you're so right! My friends always give me one of those "you're nuts why are we friends with you!" looks when I say that I find Vincent D'Onofrio attractive. Le sigh. I guess some people are just more comfortable enjoying the conventional "hotties", not many of which make me salivate as much as Jake and all my other crushes do ;)

Psht, dude, we rock :)

Crazy moods FTW!

Aww, glad you fixed your hair, if even a little. Mine always looks frazzled :(

My day? Meh. It started out okay, then I got really grumpy for a bit, then I went to work and oddly cheered up a bit... by the time I got home I was bouncing around from the sugar high I got from downing three bottles of Coke. Hahaha.

Aww. Yeah. Last House was kind of suck. I really liked the one guy though, I thought he was really cute. Not Krug, the other one... I forget his name. He was yummy!

Haha, I would totally let him molest me!

Man, I'm one demented girlie.

May 17 2009 8:40 PM

Hahha, aww. Sounds like fun!

Well I'm gonna sign out for the night :( I had a long day at work, despite it being a five hour day, I'm about to pass out, lol.

Nuh-night hon!

May 17 2009 3:15 AM

Aww, sorry to hear about that! Argh, that's why I always get into a frenzied panic when I go to hair places because I have trust issues. I mean, I'm putting my hair's fate in the hands of someone else and god only knows if they know what they're doing. And sometimes when they mess up, all you can do is wait... and then you're stuck with a hideous hairdo for who knows how long! Ugh!

I'm sorry to hear about that. I hope you can fix it!

Aside from that, how are things? All well I hope!

Hugs 'n kisses!

Oh wow- I completely forgot about Roman. I haven't seen it yet. I keep forgetting I have Netflix.

I'm okay. Are you looking forward to that Sci-Fi Channel remake of CotC? I don't think I've been following the news or updates on it.

Hahhaa. Thanks for sharing, dear ;)

What movies did you watch? One of my biggest guilty pleasures is watching The Hitcher II. Gotta love the bad guy roles.

Not that he really plays much else :(

Oh well. The bad guys always have more fun anyway!

May 3 2009 5:50 AM

Aww, sorry to hear about the cold. Those are no fun. I usually only get them in the winter. I don't think I ever caught one in summer. Strange.

I suppose working a part time job is better than working, well, no job. Some money is better than none, I always say. Okay, I don't really say that. I could though! Hahaa.

Yeah, the relationship thing is going pretty good. I'll keep ya posted!

Feel better hon. Make some chicken noodle soup and cuddle up with a Jake Busey movie! It'd make me feel better! Hahaa!
Kati Danger

May 3 2009 1:00 AM

Hey there hon. Just wanted to say hi :)

Did I tell you I got that job at Walmart? I go in for orientation on Tuesday! Yay, now I have a crummy part-time job that will suck the life out of me!

Hahaa.

How are things going for you? All good I hope!
